Just wondering the chances of me being pregnant. Shortly before my last period i forgot to take my pill and had intercourse. This was around 2 weeks ago. I then got my first ever UTI which i know can be related to pregnancy. My period was light and almost non existent which is not normal. Ive lost my appetite, been starting to feel a bit nauseous. Ive been struggling to sleep when i do i wake up constantly. I need to wee more often than usual. Just my body doesnt seem normal

You’ve had unprotected sex probably at the point at which you ovulated. You need to take a pregnancy test.

Sorry, I misread that as 2 weeks ago and then you had your period. Either which way, if you’ve had unprotected you could be pregnant. Do a test.

I thought there was a certain time you are supposed to do one as if you do it too early it might not be accurate?

Two weeks after the first day of your period is generally when you ovulate depending on your cycle length and therefore it's the days surrounding this when you're most fertile. If you had sex literally a day or two before your period then it's highly unlikely you're pregnant and highly unlikely that your period being light was related in the slightest.

OSTaylor · 15/04/2018 18:53

It was about a week before my period

Still quite unlikely, that would normally be 7 days after ovulation but then you don't actually know when you ovulated so it's not impossible. You'll need to take a test.

For the typical woman ovulation happens two weeks before the start of your next period but of course some women have a different cycle length so ovulation will happen at different times. Missing one pill is generally absolutely fine, it’s when you are starting to miss two in a row or more that it’s a worry. Since it’s been a fortnight since the unprotected sex, a test would likely give you an accurate result- just use the first urine of the day.
