Lochia or period?

So I know this isn't strictly about pregnancy but there doesn't seem to be many posters on the postnatal board!
I had DD just over 4 weeks ago, and all bleeding seemed to have completely stopped about a week ago, only the tiniest tiniest tinge of brown discharge but not even enough to warrant me wearing a panty liner.
Then today I've had a small gush of red blood, much like I've just come on my period. Is it too early for this to be a period? Was really hoping my lochia had finished as I'm getting so irritated by wearing pads!
Btw im bottle feeding.
Thanks!

It's probably lochia. I've had the same after my pregnancies. It's hard to tell the difference though sometimes.

I found if I did any sort of exercise even walking to the shop etc it seemed to spur the lochia on!

My lochia bleeding intensified 2 weeks after having DD and it turned out to be a nasty infection due to a retained placenta (resulting in an emergency op). It most likely isn't what you have however if bleeding gets stronger and stronger best to get checked out, just to be on the safe side.

@miki123 the same happened to me on day 10, huge gushes of blood so got put on antibiotics. This isn't as severe, just like a normal light period. I have been walking every day but I've been doing that for a couple of weeks and its not made anything worse. I'll just see if it continues, it's so annoying not knowing when it's going to start again!

My periods returned at 22 days with my third despite ebf. I hope it's not :(

Agreed, it is indeed annoying!
