Secondhand cot mattress

Hi girls is it safe to use a secondhand cot mattress and Moses basket mattress I'm
Worried sick and keep thinking of replacing them with new. I need everyone's opinions :)

They don't give a link for the study, which is a shame. I'd like to see what they controlled for, as I'd guess that households who buy second hand mattresses are quite demographically different to those who don't.

I've bought new for a loaned next to me and a topper for the pram mattress (can't get one thick enough which fits) which midwife says is ok.

However the Moses basket came from family and was literally used twice before being stored. We've cleaned down with alcohol wipes and washed the cover and I am comfortable with that.

Get a new one. Moses basket mattresses in particular are very cheap.
