Help!! My colleague's just about to buy me one! Is it whipped ice-cream or is it OK to eat

But what about the 3 children infront of me who need their tea?! Social services will be called and they will take my baby as soon as she is born...

but it is tempting..

see, its got nothing to do with listeria or anything, its just temptation!

Stick with Crab Sticks - they don't actually contain any crab do they?

Babylovesmuffins · 10/05/2007 17:03

Oh... Don't know about crab tbh. I've avoided all shellfish throughout the pg. Apparently it's ok if it's in a hot dish but I haven't taken the risk... Had a bad experience before with shellfish when not pg...

I have avoided, although it's been killing me because cream egg one's are back aren't they. There is a risk, albeit very small that the equipment containing the icecream hasn't been cleaned properly and the icecream not stored hygienically, I think there is a risk of listeria. Sorry.

I would add, I did occasionally do some staff training in McD HQ and I overheard some staff telling some awful stories about hygiene standards, although they do pride themselves in their reputation for good practise, I'm not taking any chances.

i ate them all nine months!!!! didnt go near an ice cream van though!!!

Actually Mcd's food has recently been scientifically tested and a value meal there usually completes all the major food groups. You have fibre, vegatable, protein, carbohydrate. Their potatos are actually fortified with vegatables so they count as one of your five a day! The chicken burgers have been proved to lower your risk of heart disease. The beef burgers are now fortified with red wine to combat the bad cholesterol.

So actually McD's offers many health benefits.

Of course, I might be lying a little bit.

Gawd, there's a risk of poor hygiene practices in all kinds of restaraunts, not just McDs. IMO you could drive yourself quite mad worrying about what you should and shouldn't eat. Be sensible - avoid raw egg from chickens that haven't been vaccinated, maybe avoid shellfish and really lovely ripe brie that's been out of the fridge for a bit but don't get too worried. You'll end uplike the person who asked if it was ok to wear nail varnish when pregnant because she worried the chemicals would pass through her nails and into the baby.....
