First time on here and need to ask this question.

My symptoms are as follows:

  1. over a week of nausea throughout the day
  2. tiredness (I’m sleeping through the whole night and have been drowsy during the day - so rare for me)
  3. dry mouth and thirstiness (again rare, I’m never thirsty ever)
  4. today I have had pains on the outside of my breasts but they went off after a while.
  5. have totally gone off alcohol
  6. excessive salavation
  7. mild twinges around the uterus/sides
  8. lower back twinges

I had unprotected sex (usually on the pill but due to work I had a blip of sanity and stopped taking it) a couple of weeks ago and continued to have unprotected once I started taking the pill again without extra precautions. I felt nauseous for a while, waves of it would hit me throughout the day.

Now it’s been replaced by sleepiness, dry mouth/excessive salavation and thirst in the last 3/4 days. I like to have the odd tipple but my partner commented that I haven’t had a drink for a few weeks now, which would tie in with being pregnant, I hadn’t even thought about it until he said.

I’m due to have my TOTM Thursday ish, I’ve tested but it’s negative and I know that I should wait til I’m due or I miss it but would just like some advice please. I am 29 and this would be my first time being pregnant.

I’m not worried about having a baby as I want to be a mum but would just like some reassurance that these symptoms would be normal :)

Does the potential father know you stopped taking the pill?

Farmerswifetobe · 31/03/2018 12:53

Yes he does! He’s really excited as he’s desperate to have some bubbas, it was always me who was more focused on work!

I had a lot of those symptoms before I had my positive test. But to be fair I also usually had lots of them before I got my period anyway... I bought tampons along with the pregnancy test because I really didn’t think I could be! I wasn’t expecting it at all.

Yet here I am 5 months later feeling my little girl rolling around in my tummy.

Just put it out if your mind and test on the day you expect your period to come.

And you’re lucky you went off alcohol - I got absolutely smashed when I now know I was about 3 days pregnant, I felt (sometime still feel) absolutely terrible. The midwife laughed and said it’s incredibly common and not to worry, but at least you won’t have that anxiety!

PremierNaps · 31/03/2018 13:07

You could always POAS only sure way to find out.

HolyShmoly · 31/03/2018 13:11

If you use a first response test you can test several days early. Otherwise there's no way of knowing.

Farmerswifetobe · 31/03/2018 13:17

I know what you mean about having these symptoms pre period but I don't have any signs before I come on apart from I usually have the odd cramp a week before but that's it and I haven't. I definitely don't have any of the rest of my list, I never get pains in my breasts, ever, I never ever get thirsty, yet I'm chugging water like I haven't had a drink for a week.

I'm nervous but I would be over the moon if I am, even if it wasn't planned! But as you have suggested I will lay off thinking about it and wait. Hard when my partner is beside himself with excitement!

So excited for you and your little one, I'm sure everything will turn out fine and you would have been beating yourself up for no reason Smile

I'm sorry PremierNaps but I'm not sure what that stands for Blush

POAS means pee on a stick - do another test.

Symptoms sound like early pregnancy but the only way to know is to do the above. Cheap ones seem to show a result earlier than fancy clearblue style ones.

HolyShmoly · 31/03/2018 13:28

The clearblue digital ones are crap for an early test, but I did find the early response ones good. The line on mine (4 days early) was super strong. Make sure it's first pee of the morning too.
Hope you get the result you want.

Farmerswifetobe · 31/03/2018 14:12

Okay I'll try and find a first response one, thank you all for your help, I don't have anyone to talk to about these things but your guidance has certainly given me a bit more piece of mind Smile

Hi @farmerswifetobe did you take an early test?

Rachie1986 · 03/04/2018 17:43

What happened OP?

Farmerswifetobe · 05/04/2018 14:07

Update: I took a FR test, still negative, I started bleeding lightly yesterday. Today, nothing. Took another FR test literally this second and it's saying negative. I'm off from work with a migraine which I've had for two days now. Very despondent Sad

If you have missed pills this month then it's likely that your cycle may be affected and you may not bleed on time, or may only have a light bleed. If the tests are negative and you have bled I think it seems unlikely sorry. But if you remain uncertain I would definitely test again in a couple of days.

Farmerswifetobe · 05/04/2018 16:22

Probably is unlikely, I usually have full on red heavy bleeding, this is pinky brown/brown light bleeding with very little cramping. Going to take a final test on Monday and if it's still negative I will take that as being sure I'm not!

OP posts:
Farmerswifetobe · 06/04/2018 14:02

I've had a few more brown spots today, sharp twinges in my uterus area and in my nipples/breasts.

I know implantation can be around the time your period is due so maybe there's a chance I am. As I said, I'll wait to test again in a few days time and see what happens with that
