Growth tailed off 35+5

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone had any experience similar. Had growth scan while I was admitted in hospital for something else (positive fetal fibronectin), I have been having a few of these due to having a low PappA although this one shown that baby's growth has now tailed off, he currently is weighing an estimated 5lb 7 although at his growth scan almost 3 weeks ago he was estimated 5lb 3 so not much of a change.

I'm going in Monday for another cooler scan and ctg and then again Thursday for the same as well as meeting with my consultant where there's been talk of booking induction/ section.

I am in constant worry now that my placenta is going to stop working and my anxiety is through the roof, I'm panicking if I don't feel him for 10 mins do you think wit all my problems I could convince my ob to get him out ASAP?

Has anyone else had similar problems and could tel me what to expect?

(Apologies I've written so many problem threads this pregnancy has been none stop problem and after problem - get him out 😩)

I had a similar problem. My 1st growth became static and I was induced at 36 weeks because one Doppler reading was far too low. They had been monitoring it weekly for about a month and at 36 weeks I was induced. They estimated his weight to be 5lb 8 but he was 5lb 5oz. I was given 2 steroid injections and induced.

They can't be too worried, if they were they would have your baby out by now Smile

Thank you @user1485778793

They only found out his growth had slowed yesterday he's dropped a centile since a few weeks ago, got Doppler Monday so shall see then, I asked about steroids a few days ago when they thought I was going to into prem labour and the doctor told me they won't give me them now I'm past 34/35 weeks 😩! He's currently only estimated at weighing 5lb 6 at the moment x

5lb 6oz is fine, some babies are just on the smaller side.

If it helps I was 5lb 6oz when I was born and I'm fine Smile

If the doppler/pressure readings are ok it's unlikely the placenta is packing up.

My friends baby had a low pappA he was born on his due date happy and healthy at 5lb 10oz. The drs had told her that these babies tend to be a bit smaller and they like to keep an eye on things.

I also had IUGR my baby stopped growing at 30-32 weeks and she was born by induction at 35 weeks. Also a happy and healthy little girl now.

It’s always a worry. Do your research and take your time when decisions have to be made. Hope your little boy arrives without incident.

Thanks ladies @Biscusting glad your induction went well, everything will come down to my Doppler scan to check placenta although he's dropped from 95th to 50th centile in a few weeks.

I'm just hoping they will induce and not just whip me in for section 😩

I doubt they'll whip you in for a section unless it's an emergency.

They knew my placenta wasn't working well enough but I still didn't give birth for another 4 days

pukekos · 11/03/2018 04:21

Sorry to hear you’re having this stress! Between 31 and 35+5 weeks Dd dropped from 50th to

justtheonethen · 11/03/2018 04:56

I had static growth from 34 weeks for my little girl. They only became really bothered and induced me when my Dopplers were abnormal - cord blood flow- which indicated the placenta was packing in.

Hope you get some reassurance soon.

Not exactly the same as mine are non id twins but my left twin started on 90th centile at 24 weeks, by 28 weeks she was on the 50th and by my 32 week growth scan she was just above the 10th. They had me worrying that they was coming early etc all depended on my 34 week scan. Had the scan at 34 weeks and my left twin has grown at a pace just above the 10th centile but classed as alright growth for the place she was at.
My right one from 24 weeks has always been on the 50th until last week on the 34 week scan and she’s dropped to similar place her sister is just above the tenth they have now mentioned a worry about her growth but want to re scan in two weeks. that to me like a Pp said they can’t be too worried if they are prepared to wait. My two are 5lb 6oz and 5lb 5oz now at 34 weeks which is really good for twins. But they have told me that weight is fine and a lot on the board I’m on for April babies weigh similar amounts and they are single pregnancies too.
I know it’s easier said than done but please try not to worry. I spent the last two weeks worrying and she caught up and overtook her sister. I know it’s easier said than done but if all other checks are showing fine then he could just be a smaller baby.
