Can’t feel uterus?

Hi ladies,
Just wondering - I’m 13 weeks and can’t feel my uterus yet..everything I read says I should be able to feel it by now but nothing! I’m very petite so thought I’d be showing by now..stupidly worrying about missed miscarriage for some reason :( Just not sure what’s normal!
Any advise would be appreciated x

I wouldn’t know what I’m feeling for ?!
With your first you tend to show later
I was petite and didn’t start to show until about six months with my first even though he was born at 9lb12oz!!

Do you know what your uterus should feel like OP?

BrutusMcDogface · 03/03/2018 10:09

Eh? I can honestly say I've never tried to feel it, but also with my first baby I was in the skinniest of skinny jeans at 13 weeks, and the uterus was probably still tucked into the pelvis. Everyone is different, and so is every pregnancy. At my 16 week appointment my uterus was felt by the midwife to be at about/ Judy below belly button level.

Have you not had a 12 week scan yet?

DetectiveDog · 03/03/2018 10:23

I’m not sure what you mean by feel your uterus either. But I know I wasn’t showing at all in my first pregnancy until nearly 20 weeks. Have you had a scan yet?

Steeley113 · 03/03/2018 10:27

Chances are, you have no idea what you’re feeling for. Stop stressing.

I wouldn't worry I was petite and didn't have a bump until 25 weeks pregnant. I wouldn't have had a clue what I was feeling for.

You're not expected to be able to feel your own uterus thats what the mw is for, leave it to them as they are trained and you aren't. It causes unnecessary worry, if you've had your 12 week scan and no pain or bleeding there's no reason to suspect anything out of the ordinary

Thanks ladies, it’s just the pregnancy apps I have and online saying stuff like “at 12 weeks you should be able to feel your uterus, grapefruit sized hard ball above your pelvis..”
And I just feel so normal! I have had a 12 week scan. Without that I don’t think I’d be convinced anything was there! Ha.
Think I’ll just delete my app..! And not google. Too much “this should be happening and that” but I guess everyone is different.
Thanks a lot :)

Defo get rid of that app! Which one is it? I’ve never felt my uterus as a grapefruit sized lump above my pelvis Grin

GilligansKitchenIsland · 03/03/2018 11:52

Midwife here - congratulations on your pregnancy! It's not very easy to feel the top of your own uterus! Especially at 12-13 weeks. The midwives don't even normally start feeling for it until you're about 24-28 weeks. If you have any consistent pain that doesn't abate, or any bleeding, go to A+E. Otherwise be reassured by your 12-week scan, and look forward to hearing the heartbeat at your next midwife appointment :)

pastabest · 03/03/2018 12:01

I didn't feel it until about 15 weeks - 16 weeks in either pregnancy and even then only by lying flat on the floor.

It doesn't feel like a grapefruit it just feels a bit hard.

CJ1990 · 03/03/2018 12:27

Thanks everyone :) feel a lot more relaxed!

Definitely ditch the app expectations! My first time I didn't show at all until 26 weeks! I'm tall and carry my babies very snugly inside. I couldn't even feel my uterus 3rd time round!
