Bleeding at 12 weeks pregnant

Hi ladies. I am approximately 12 weeks and last night after I went I to the bathroom I had a pink watery discharge. Then this afternoon some more but slightly more redder. I have a dull ache in my back but I did squats last night with a kettle bell so not sure if that’s what caused it. Yeah called the midwife and she said that around this time the placenta takes over from the egg to feed the baby and some bleeding is normal but to keep an eye on it. I have a headache (maybe caused by crying) and I feel I have twinges in my tummy but this may be me imagining it. I am so scared this may be the start of a miscarriage. I had a scan just over a week ago and all was fine so I’m unsure what’s happening.

The best thing to do is snuggle up on the sofa and watch a movie. Lots of people have had bleeding like this at your stage and everything has been fine. Try to rest and relax, fingers crossed it's nothing to worry about. Good luck x

I've had 4 episodes of bleeding. The bleeding tends to be quite short lived but I can have some spotting or leftover blood for about 3-4 days too. With each bleed I've had some aches but nothing too bad. If the bleeding gets heavier I would be more concerned but fortunately so far my bleeding hasn't become heavy. I'm 13w3d and my hospital have seen evidence of the bleeding on a scan but there's very little (nothing) they can do. It's really frightening so you have my sympathy. Hopefully it's just a small bleed and it won't get any worse.

I had light pinkish bleeding at 10 weeks, I went to the EPU And had a scan, everything was fine. Thanks

Thankyou ladies. The EPUs in my local area all seem to be shut over the weekend. Only open Monday - Friday and ridiculous hours as well. I pray to god it doesn’t get any worse. I thought after 12 weeks things were more ‘safe’. Thank you all for your messages xxx

My next scan is this Thursday. It’s for the chromosomal abnormality testing (when I went a couple of weeks baby was too small to do it) so I’m hoping it will show everything is ok. I just hope there is no more bleeding. It wasn’t a constant flow, literally just spitting but still scary.

@emsyw your maternity unit will have a triage which is open 24hr and it's for any stage of pregnancy if you are overly worried I would give them a call ❤

@emsyw no problem. They were a great help to me last week i fell at work on the weekend and I was really worried and they had me in the same day. My scan isn't till next Friday and I was the same I couldn't wait. Was all good and baby was diving about like a lunatic and I was worried and guilty over nothing lol. You may just have ruptured a wee blood vessel doing your exersìses as you have so much more blood running through you just now. Hope all is well xx

@loonyluna16 I’m glad to hear you and the baby are ok. You did the right thing to get checked. I hope it is related to the exercises. I don’t use kettlebells usually but stupidly thought they would help with pelvic exercises. I won’t be going near them again. I’m just more concerned because I have the dull ache in my back and just don’t feel right but that could be psychological. How far gone are you? Xx

@Emsyw 12 weeks tomorrow. I know what you mean by the dull ache. Mw told me that was just stretching pains. Nothing good comes from exercising 😋 just get yourself for a nice warm bath and put your feet up xx

EmsyW · 02/03/2018 20:56

@loonyluna16 good advice 😊 xx
