Baby arching it’s back a lot at a scan

Had a nuchal scan yesterday at 13 weeks 3 days. Baby was arching it’s back a lot like he wasn’t comfortable in there. Is it normal? Getting worried about it.
Thanks.

He's just stretching and wriggling! If the sonographer didn't think it was a problem, then it wasn't! Mine was doing the same, and waving its arms and legs around. It's just an energetic one! 😉

It's just wriggling. All mine did that too. All fine. :-)

babies have a lot of space around them at 13 weeks. If he/she was awake it's completely normal to have some movement. If scans were unsafe they wouldn't allow them. Are you worried that a scan might have hurt your baby? Some babies are also uncomfortable if the mum is lying on her back. I know both my DSs were kicking loads when I would try and lie on my back.

Phew thank you :)
It was wriggling a lot too, couldn't keep still. Wish I had so much energy Grin

Twofishfingers, no, not worried about that. Was just wondering.. tried to make the baby to lie flat by lifting and shaking my hips, then the sonographer brought my legs up.. guess the baby didn’t like that.

It's a good sign! You won't always see movement on a scan, and that's fine too, but an active baby is a healthy baby. At this stage they are amazingly flexible. The bones are still largely soft cartilage and they can get into all sorts of positions that would not work on the outside.
