31 weeks stabbing pains in bump

I'm getting sharp stabbing pains in my bump almost in a throbbing pattern every 2 or so minutes. It's like somebody has a belt of nails around the level of my belly button and keeps pulling it tight. Sometimes it's only on my left hand side. Anybody else had this?

How are you now OP? Is it still happening?

I think you should get that checked out sooner rather than later.

TammySwansonTwo · 04/02/2018 17:35

Please go and get checked out asap. When one of my twins was in serious trouble, I had very odd symptoms, nothing you'd think would suggest a problem with the baby. I'm very lucky I was talked into getting checked out

Could be all kinds of things and I wouldn't take any chances - go and get seen, please!

They've eased off a bit now and he's moving a lot. Do you still think I should get it checked out because it has happened before. I just thought I might have been having a rough week with pains but this afternoon was sore enough to question. It's like a stabbing stitch in my bump but in a pattern and not changing with movement or sitting down.

Is he moving more than usual? I ask as any difference in his normal movement behaviour can indicate a problem (not just stopping moving). I would get it checked out.

Definitely get it checked out.

You should not be having that kind of pain.

You may be told it is nothing to worry about - in which case you can relax.

You may be told it is pregnancy related and that some action is required.

But doing nothing is a bad option.

He's always very active which I like for reassurance but I'll definitely ring up my midwife and I'll let you all know what they say!

I'd call triage. It might be nothing but at least you will have peace of mind.

Turns out I have a UTI but been prescribed some antibiotics so I should overcome it without any problems. Thankfully despite the tightenings and pains my cervix is still closed so fingers crossed this will clear and I can go the rest of my pregnancy without it recurring.

I’m glad it wasn’t anything worse Flowers
