Pregnant 8 weeks after having DS

Has anyone else had a baby within a short period of time after having their first? We had unprotected sex out of pure frustration over the Christmas period. I'm late on my period and I'm not sure whether I'm pregnant again or whether it's down to just having a baby. I'm a little scared that I won't be able to support another child and wouldn't want to raise another child in my situation.
I did do a test this afternoon and it was negative but could I have tested too early?

I'd say periods can be irregular after having a baby- I had my first 6 weeks postpartum and every 2 weeks thereafter for 3 months!
Alas all you can do is wait. It must be quite stressful not knowing xx

I'm hoping they're just irregular. I'm not ready for labour again!xx

If your breastfeeding on demand it would be unlikely (but not impossible!) If your formula feeding I have heard you are really fertile after having a baby...

If you do a first response test 17 days after the date of the unprotected sex then the result should be reliable. Less sensitive tests I would wait 19 days.

I know someOne that was pregnant again within a few months of precious birth, thought breastfeeding meant they couldn't get pregnant! so it does happen, hopefully you're just irregular from birth still as is very very soon after birth you could've got pregnant, but not totally impossible

My SIL has 10 months and 3 weeks between her and her sister. It can happen.

I have a friend who's kids are born exactly a year apart !

I'm 20 weeks pregnant and my son just turned a year old. It can happen very quickly!

I didn't have a period until 8 weeks pp last time. Don't panic yet, it will take a while for things to settle down.

I just did a test and it was negative. I'm secretly glad I'm missing a period but I must admit I was worried!!

My sister did not have a period while she breastfed her kids! All the best xx
