HelloGrin

I'm 10 weeks today, I've developed a weird rash either side of my tummy on top of what looks like stretch marks. It's sooooo itchy and driving me mad!!!

Has anyone had this?

I would call your mw - could be sign of liver trouble?

Although reading this it looks more likely to be stretch marks?

Hi Rainbows thanks for responding!

It's like weird red lumps on top of what looks like the beginning of stretch marks and it's super itchy at night. I might ring the midwife on Monday to see if she will look at it to be safe xx

I had these after birth. Took a few weeks to go and they would come and go. Midwife had no idea what it was.

It's definitely worth getting checked out to be on the safe side.

It could be PUPPS/PEP. It usually starts in stretch marks. If it is that it's harmless but very irritating. I had this is my pregnancy with DS and you have my sympathy.

Smothering it with E45 cream helps a bit.

Stupid question but are you using a hot water bottle or bean bags? I had similar marks on my stretch marks when I was and it was because my skin was extra sensitive where I was getting new stretch marks.

Definitely check with your MW/HV

Thank you guys I'll definitely ring them on Monday. She took my first blood urine ect on Thursday and it had been there for a day but I thought it was just a general rash. I would imagine the liver thing would show if it's that?

No I haven't been using any heat or bean bags. It's not near my waist band it's more middle abdomen xxx

My entire stomach is constantly irritated like yours and burning because of the skin being stretched so tightly.

LunaNightSky · 13/01/2018 09:45

I've been putting palmers stretch mark oil on every day since I got my BFP but clearly if you're gonna get them you'll get them Sad I didn't think I'd get them at week 10 though, seems early!

A regular blood test won't show cholestasis, it is a specific test.
Definitely mention it to your mw.

SS81C · 13/01/2018 09:52

If they were your general booking bloods it wouldn't include liver function tests.

Generally liver conditions are itching without a rash so its more likely to be something like PUPPS but its ALWAYS best to get checked out so,as others have said, I would make an appointment with your GP or speak to your midwife next week.
Hope it improves.

PointeShoesAndTutus · 13/01/2018 09:55

Could it be the stretch mark cream? Even if you've used it before it could be a new allergy. I got a similar rash at around 12 weeks - I was using bio oil twice a day (which I've used on scars before with no problems at all, pre pregnancy). DH suggested it could be that, and once I stopped using it, the rash went.

LunaNightSky · 13/01/2018 11:56

That's a thought, I was using palmers but got another that was on offer and used it once or twice.

I'll just ring them on Monday to be sure they'll probably want me to nip down to show it and possibly do the liver test if they think it could be that.

Thanks for your suggestions Smile
