Consultant appt - what's this for?!

I know I should have asked this when they booked this in weeks ago but my brain has been so scatty lately...

I'm 23 weeks pregnant with my second and have an appointment at the hospital tomorrow with a consultant. I've been told to take my notes and a urine sample. I had a csection with my first and theyve said allow 1-2 hours.

Can anyone tell me what they will talk about? Is it birth plan or just checking how things are?

Everyone who has had a c section gets reviewed by an obstetrician. It's standard and nothing to worry about

Without knowing your medical history it’s impossible for anyone else to say - apart from your c section were there any other complications like gestational diabetes? Hope it all goes well :)

Thanks - no complications or dodgy history, when they booked it it was very much a standard procedure thing. Makes sense if it's just a standard check up after a c section though.

Just standard, all women who have had a cs are consultant led for their next pregnancy. We just discussed birth choices, as some trusts are happier for women to have elcs's

It will very likely be the c section. In my trust (Norfolk) everyone who has had one previously is automatically consultant led for subsequent pregnancies.

Did you have any complications in your first pregnancy? Anything that makes you high risk?

Lilonetwo · 09/01/2018 20:12

Very standard. I had mine last week. It's to see what kind of birth you want this time
I.e. VBAC or elective cesarean

My 2nd pregnancy was consultant and midwife led due to my comment section with my first.
They will discuss what delivery you want.

Not sure if I will have consultant this time as 2nd was a vaginal delivery and want vaginal delivery this time also.
