Meditation and Pregnancy

I keep reading about all the benefits of meditation and decided to incorporate some daily meditation as a New Years intention.

Now I'm wondering if it has any benefit on the unborn child, so if you meditated during pregnancy did you pop out a zen baby?

Absolutely! Calm mother, calm baby. Which meditation did u try?

Definitely! It releases endorphins and oxytocin which are really good for you and baby!
Hypnobirthing focusses a lot on relaxation and guided meditation

Not so much 'meditation' but I practiced hypnotherapy for relaxation and as part of my birth preparation (natal hypnotherapy) with my first and now with this baby. I'd really recommend that. You might as well devote that time to doing something aimed at improving what your birth will be like while also getting some relaxation in. I had a really relaxed, peaceful birth as a result and our daughter has generally been really happy and relaxed (she's 5 now), but I think frankly that has more to do with how we parent than anything I did during pregnancy.

You think your emotional state during pregnancy doesn’t have much impact on the baby when they are born?

Absolutely yes. The two of you are linked! Yogic philosophy says that the link between mother and child doesn't fully separate until age 3.

Love meditating and it helped in labour. I could use my breathing and relaxation techniques to get through the contractions. I try to fit a bit in every day. Just for my own sanity. Ds was certainly a chilled out baby.

I've been using the insight timer app and enjoying it, they have a few pregnancy ones which are quite amusing but I am only 7 weeks so not convinced foetus will benefit at this point, but its never too early to start!

A zen baby would be lovely :-) even if its wishful thinking!
