39 weeks- questions about whether I'm having any twinges....

Hi- don't know if this is a reasonable thing to get a bit annoyed about or whether I need to chill..... I'm 39+4 and I have two family members who ask every couple of days, by phone or text, whether I am having any 'twinges' yet. It's really bugging me as it's been going on for at least a week. We don't plan to tell people when I go into labour as we don't want to the have everyone worrying and having to keep people updated. We just want to focus on having the baby.

I keep responding to these family members along the lines that we'll let them know when there is something to tell.

Is this type of question normal? Should I just chill out about it? I know they're just excited but a 'how are you?' seems so much more appropriate and easier to respond to.....

I got this every single day by family members and friends when I hit 38/39 weeks. It used to bug the life out of me but I just replied with no nothing yet!

Thanks! Glad it's not just me....

Yep, I've been getting it too, 39+1.

I've just been replying with vague 'not really' type answers but was rather tempted to say WELL my discharge has been excessive and my cervix feels like its been repeatedly slammed against and I've done about 100 poos today , so...

For this reason many people don't tell others their due date. Friends and family mean well but it does get annoying.

I'm getting it from mum and sister, every day basically. I'm 38+3 and mum let me know this morning that she's sorted all the travel arrangements if she needs to get here in a hurry, bless her, as she doesn't drive.

They mean well and it shows how much they care I think, and it's nice to know they're thinking of us every day. I think it's just adding to my frustration a bit though because I've reached the point where I'm so done with being pregnant and want to get on with the next bit!

I’m 39 weeks today and I get it from my mum every day. It does get annoying but her intentions are good. Don’t feel bad if you feel like telling them to not text you until you’ve given birth, focus on you and your baby, that’s what I’ve done, at this stage you just need to relax and let everything happen on it’s own even though it gets boring waiting😂

Sophielouloux96 · 06/01/2018 19:09

Hi, I’m 39 weeks today with little boy, first pregnancy, so need a little advice, I haven’t stopped pooping for the last week or two and now I’ve started getting period like cramps, could this be labour starting? Had midwife round last week and she said that his head was already 3/5ths engaged, just want him to come now, sounds bad to say but I’m really bored and fed up with being pregnant now, not had a very good pregnancy as it is with all the hospital visits for severe dehydration, someone please help?

thingymaboob · 06/01/2018 19:13

39+1 here and getting messages everyday from my mum, MIL, DH grandmother, SIL and pretty much everyone. I am getting really annoyed. They keep saying "we are being impatient". Just FUCK OFF!

ScarlettInSpace · 06/01/2018 19:59

I’m 38 weeks and am seeing daily comments on my mums Facebook feed from people I don’t even know asking if she has any baby news yet Hmm

owltrousers · 07/01/2018 10:03

@Sophielouloux36 Same! also been 3/5ths engaged since 36 weeks, feels like there is a bowling ball between my legs. Been pooping 3-6 times a day as well Shock I'm hoping all good signs and it means baby is on his way, just taking his time. Have you had any bloody show or sign of mucus plug? Thats what I'm holding out for

Sophielouloux96 · 07/01/2018 10:50

I’ve had my mucus plus out, but only little bits over the past week, got 6 days left to go, just waiting for him to make an appearance is starting to drag a little bit, good luck with your labour c

Hotpinkangel19 · 07/01/2018 22:23

Yes fed up of it! 40+1 here!

TonicAndTonic · 07/01/2018 22:31

Me too, 38+2 and several well-meaning relatives seem to be doing a kind of tag team in terms of asking me whether I think the baby is coming any time soon! Also 3/5 engaged since 36 weeks but no other signs yet!

ndo4000 · 08/01/2018 05:57

Yup - I had this with dc2 and she came 10 days past her Edd so you can imagine how irritating it got! This time round only me & DH know my edd and every one else has simply been told the due month! It really annoys people to not have a date but tough!

TheMildManneredMilitant · 08/01/2018 06:56

Yep, I had this from 37 - 42 weeks! If they weren't directly asking me they would find another spurious reason to phone up and then panic if I didn't answer first time. Drove me bonkers.

Uhohmummy · 08/01/2018 10:04

I had this constantly with DD1 who was 13 days overdue.
