Vitamin D blood test

So I’m 4 weeks 5 days pregnant. I’ve a GP appointment on Thursday as I think I will need the higher dose of folic acid (based on midwife advice from EPU before I lost last pregnancy).

I’ve previously experienced vitamin D deficiency and been on high doses to correct this. Last dose was last year. I’m wondering if I should ask GP for blood test to check it again given my history? Has anyone else had similar experience?

To add I was taking pre-natal vitamins and now pregnacare max but the dose of vitamin d in these is miniscule compared to what I was taking.

I think that's a good idea, OP. If they think it's necessary, they can give you a prescription for a higher dose that's safe in pregnancy if you need it. When I had DD I was prescribed these massive clear capsules of vitamin d, they'd have choked a horse!! Good luck 🤞🏻

Thanks @rebeccaslicker I wasn’t sure if I needed to prompt them or if it would be done routinely etc.

Sounds like you and I were taking the same tablets, bloomin’ huge things!

I think they routinely check this in your first bloods... But it won't harm asking. 🙂
