Hi everyone, I’ve recently found out I’m pregnant for the first time and very excited! But I’ve just hit the five week mark today and have some light bleeding (only noticeable when I wipe when I go to the bathroom but is definitely red), is this normal?!

I bled with both my pregnancies and the outcome s were good. However there are just no guarantees unfortunately. Unless it gets heavy and there's lots of cramping I wouldn't worry too much.

Good luck

That’s reassuring, thank you so much.bits funny, to start with you’re terrified you are pregnant (I’m in a long term committed relation and live with my partner but it wasn’t planned) and now all I al scared of it if my body can do this for me. I read somewhere taking another test to see if it has changed to 3-4 weeks is a good indicator, would you say that is true or a waste of time?

I bleed during my pregnancy. The advice in the area I live in is to contact your GP who arranges on early scan as they are keen to make sure everything is ok. I bled on and off until 11 weeks, the scan identified the cause of bleeding. Good luck

Thank you this is really helpful too. My issue is we have just moved to a new area and I haven’t had time to sign up to a GP, I was went in yesterday at my first opportunity (I don’t work in the area so finding time is hard) and was sent away with a load of forms to take away and fill in, obviously with it being Christmas the 27th is my first chance to take them back in and have bloody pressure checks etc. I suppose I have to wait until that point and ask them then but the whole waiting thing scares me!
