Hi everyone

I am 32+6 today with my first baby (a little girl). I have had an ideal pregnancy so far, other than a little sickness and tiredness it has been wonderful. I had a few episodes of reduced movement (4 in 4 weeks) but I've got to the stage where I can predict when she is going to go quiet (after a very active day) however, each time I have been for CTG monitoring and I am now under consultant care. All of the CTGs have been perfect but I was booked in for growth scans to make sure everything is okay.
I had my second growth scan 2 days ago and they found that the growth has decelerated (it was in between 90th and 50th centile on first growth scan and now 3 weeks later is in between 50th and 10th centile). My consultant booked me for the Doppler scan next week to check the cord and blood circulation, and asked me to drink more water to ensure the blood is thin enough to pass nutrients.
I'm feeling really upset and nervous that something is wrong, when I asked the consultant if I should be worried he replied that it is his job to be worried... Which didn't really reassure me. Has anyone had a similar experience to this?

Thanks xxx

I had a growth scan at 32wks and had an elevated cord resistance (Doppler) reading, although growth was fine.

Had to have weekly Doppler scans at 33/34 weeks and then further growth scans, last one was at 36 weeks.

At the 32 wk scan one consultant was talking about steroid injections in prep for early delivery. However everything was fine at 36wks and i’m now 38 weeks with a final scan next week. So I’m almost full term!

I think they would rather err on the side of caution- the most important thing is they are keeping an eye on you and the baby so try not to worry too much. It may be something as simple as the sonographers measurements being out, but if there is anything amiss they will ensure that you are closely monitored.
