Hip pain/back pain

Just wondered if anyone has any advice or experience they can share? I’m currently 19 weeks pregnant on my second pregnancy and since 16 weeks I’ve been having hip pain. I managed to get to see an NHS physio really quickly and he gave me some exercises to do. I had done them for about 2 weeks and then on Sunday, I’d just done them on the floor and rolled over to get up and I feel something twang in my bum cheek and I’ve been in agony ever since. I now have to wait until Monday to see the physio again but I did see my GP today who said I should rest it as much as I can and take paracetamol (and sit as little possible!). With my ds I suffered right until the end with hip pain so I was almost expecting it this time. I wondered if with the right exercises and approach the pain might ease or if it’s likely that it’ll just get worse like my first pregnancy? Thank you and sorry for the long post!

Go see an osteopath, much better for hip/pelvic pain/sciatica.

Sounds like you've pulled a muscle. I've had hip pain all the way through my pregnancy, although it has eased off towards the end and become less severe. Nothing eases it; apparently it's caused by hormones and extra weight on my joints, which will only be resolved by giving birth. You have my sympathy though!

A support belt might help.

Ask your nhs physio about a promedics one.

Thank you for your replies! I do think I have pulled a muscle but I think it may have happened because of the exercises I’ve done to strengthen my hip. I had a support band in my first pregnancy and it definitely helped so I’ll ask for another one this time. Lying on a hot water bottle is definitely helping for now.
