DC2 due on Xmas Day but today I'm having what I'd describe as very mild period pains. DS only arrived after induction at 41+4 so although this is my 2nd I have no experience of labour starting by itself and unsure.

Slight lower backache too. Anyone had similar and if so did it turn into proper labour quite soon or after another few days?

DH is about 90 minutes away and I've been told by midwives this time to come in at first contraction as likely to be very fast based on DS.

Slightly bricking it now. I am not ready! Hoping lots of people had this then still waited another week or so.....

It could be braxton hicks. Ring the MW and see what they say. Any discharge/waters/show? Is there a pattern?

DappledThings · 12/12/2017 11:19

No show or anything. Going to start seeing if there's a pattern.

Not BH I dont think. Have had those before and were much more painful.

It could be the start, I had mild period type pains the day before DD was born. Just try and be aware of any other changes in case it is the start.

I had this towards the end. Midwife said it was just my muscles stretching and the way baby was sitting, even though it seemed to have a slight pattern to it.
Try having a bath or something and see if it goes away. My baby still went to 42+1 and was induced.

I'm still at work so no chance of a bath right now! Now I understand what my friend was saying about having an induction then spontaneous with her 2nd and feeling robbed of the ordered and scheduled experience 2nd time!

I'm 36 weeks and have been feeling that way for the last 2-3 weeks I'm afraid.

No that's good news Autumn, quite happy for this to carry on as long as it doesn't come early!
