Pregnancy after preeclampsia

Had preeclampsia with my first pregnancy which never really settled after birth, an extra day in hospital and 6 weeks of medication to try and bring my blood pressure back down after aswell as extra HV visits etc.
So this time round I'm 'high risk' and under consultant care, I've met with her once and am due to see her again in 2 weeks for my 28 week scan. She's ordered 2 weekly antenatal visits with my midwife and weekly blood pressure checks, I'm on aspirin and after my next scan will have them 4 weekly to keep an eye on things.
At my last appointment the consultant mentioned when asked wanting to knock three weeks off the end of the pregnancy (I've known I was being induced since the start of this pregnancy but didn't know when that would happen), she basically said at 37 weeks or sooner if need be and they'd give me steroids for baby.
My blood pressure has already been very up and down (mostly up) during this pregnancy so I think preeclampsia is definitely a concern. The thought of not knowing when it will happen is stressing me out, obviously I have another child so the thought of being in hospital for a week because of early induction is very unsettling to me. Does anyone have experience of this? When were you induced and how long did it take?

I had pre eclampsia first time, 7 days in hospital before he was born at 36+6 by emcs, then another week in hospital and 6-8 weeks on bp meds. Not classed as high risk second time, a few extra appts early on and even though bp was always slightly raised at appts that was mostly due to the worry of it all.

Didn't develop pre eclampsia again, hospitalised twice at 38/39 weeks due to high bp and protein (false alarm on that). They wouldn't let me go past 40 weeks without a plan, never mentioned bringing me in early. Ended up choosing a sweep at 39 weeks due to just my mental state and the resulting high bp it was causing, unfortunately while labour started it stopped again and had a cs at 39+3 just a few days ago. Bp dropped immediately, raised slightly again yesterday but no meds or follow up etc.

Oh in my hospital they don't induce after a section so wasn't an option.

Yes, I may have an early induction too so bumping! :-)

I know it will go by what happens so "see how it goes" and "we need to act quickly" are both options but I just hate not knowing when to plan things for. Currently ignoring my due date and thinking of 37 weeks as due date but don't know whether that's the case or not

I found the not knowing very difficult. I assumed 36/37 weeks would be my rough dd like last time, so getting past 39 weeks was both great and stressful at the same time. Ultimately the not knowing drove me to try the sweep, having a set date would be beneficial in fairness.

So they never got your blood pressure under control before your 2nd pregnancy?

My pregnancies were in America. I had preeclampsia with my first pregnancy and wasn't discharged until my blood pressure was under control. With my second pregnancy I was closely monitored and had saline drips to keep me hydrated when my blood pressure went high. This lowered my blood pressure effectively. I also had anemia and they gave me injections not tablets after the second attempt at tablets didn't change my iron levels.

I went to 41 weeks with my second and 39 weeks with my third. I did have undiagnosed GD with my 2nd and they diagnosed it with my 3rd.

Blood pressure hasn't been right since first pregnancy, but I'm not really one to keep going back and nagging about sorting it, it's only now I'm pregnant again that's it's really bad and feel awful because of it (often think I'm going to faint etc). Il just have to ask again at my next consultant appointment and try and get a more definite answer

You really need to go back and get this sorted. For during your pregnancy you need to strongly advocate for yourself as well as focus on your health. There is a lot they can do without medicine. For my third pregnancy I had lower body massages every two weeks in my second trimester and every week in my third trimester as well as doing daily exercises to help keep my blood pressure down too.
