Progesterone suppositories and spotting

Hi,

I’m 8+4 today and after a MC, MMC and TFMR a little on the anxious side! I noticed in the night that was a tiny spot of pink blood when wiping. When I pressed the tissue ‘up’ a bit a tiny bit more appeared. I’ve had the same today as well but it’s literally minuscule amounts. I know that I have a subchorionic hematoma but that’s positioned a distance away from my cervix and a scan a week ago showed a healthy baby with heartbeat. I’m using progesterone supplements and am wondering if they could have caused the spotting? Does anyone know if this could be the case? Perhaps I pressed it too far up...?

I know the only way to know for sure whether all’s ok is a scan but I can’t get one for days due to availability and also I’d prefer not to be panic scanning every week if possible!

Thanks.

Hi I've had two pregnancies using progesterone suppositories as they were both IVF. With the first I had no spotting at all for the whole 9 months. With the second I've had spotting as well as a large bleed at 8 weeks, all due to a subchorionic haematoma. The spotting lasted on and off until about 11 weeks and then just stopped and at my 13wk scan showed it had 'healed' well with no major clots visible.

I'm no expert but it sounds like the spotting is due to the haematoma rather than the suppositories. Certainly that was my own experience.

That said, the suppositories can be an irritant. They can go in, erm, the back door as well and it's not as horrible as you think - in some ways much better. I found them irritating so swapped week about front and back to keep irritation to a minimum.

Hi OP! Congratulations on your pregnancy! I've had quite a bit of bleeding in this pregnancy (I'm 11+3) and have also been on progesterone tablets which made me feel dreadful! I've had three scans so far, following really big bleeds, and I've found the EPU to be incredibly cautious and encouraging when I've felt the need to have a check up. I'm sure a spot of pink blood is nothing to worry about, but I say this as someone who bursts into tears whenever it does! If you would feel better going for a checkup then do. A heartbeat at 7+4 is a really good sign. Try and enjoy each day. Flowers

Years later I know - did you ladies have successful pregnancies? I have the same thing x just under 10 weeks and spotting on and off for a month x
