Everyone keeps telling me it's TWINS 😱

I'm roughly 9 weeks pregnant with my third & I am apparently really big. I feel a lot bigger than I have done with the last two pregnancies, in fact it's been the hardest pregnancy in a lot of ways. Everyone is determined I'm carrying twins & I am freaking out 😱 Please somebody tell me that they too were bigger with their third...that it was harder for them...but they were still only carrying one child 😂

I have had a scan (had to have early scan at 6 weeks due to pain) & there was only one sac & one heartbeat. And still everyone is like 'could be hiding behind' 😂😂 please somebody just tell me this is normal for number three 😂😂

You have very rude friends. People tried that shit with me as well. Its horrifically rude!

The scary thing is I am bigger than I have been previously with pregnancies 😂 Although it did knock me when a total stranger asked me if I knew how many there were 😑

My body.just remembered what to do and the muscles gave up the ghost very quickly! I got big early on, but then stayed the same size for ages. Only one baby!

I'm 24 weeks with baby 3 and I'm definitely bigger than with my other two. My bumps always looked pretty small with them too so I feel like a whale this time. So I wouldn't worry too much :)

Frightening! But seriously with my third I was absolutely massive, probably no muscles left to hold it in, I think its likely that the scan is correct, you are just all slack now m'dear

ILoveDolly I am more than happy with that haha! Obviously if it were twins we would deal with it but right now I am already like 'omg where exactly is the baby going' 😂

Could you afford a private scan to put your mind at rest?

I debated that but I have an NHS dating scan next month. Although the whole 'baby number two is hiding' doesn't help put me at ease even with a scan 😂 Think i'm just going to become a recluse for the next few months & avoid people 🙈

I wouldn’t describe it as rude really. A lot of people find pregnancy exciting. I got huge with my 3rd pregnancy,
All the usual symptoms were more intense too, we all joked about** it being twins. I wasn’t overly surprised when the scan revealed 2 tbh

My sister got pregnant shortly after me, 3rd pregnancy too and big bump quickly but 1 baby so it’s no real indicator I don’t think

If there was only one sac and one heartbeat visible at 6 weeks then you're definitely only carrying the one - it wouldn't be possible for another to "hide behind" it! But by the third time your muscles just aren't as tight as they used to be - couple that with the inevitable bloating you get in the first trimester and yes, you'll have a bump. Doesn't help when people try to scare you by insisting it might be twins though - I had that a lot with my third too.

I know it sounda daft but I am so relieved other people have experienced it 😂 My first two pregnancies were perfect; no adverse symptoms, no sickness, really tiny, neat little bump. This one? I've had sickness, nausea, dizziness, & the bump is just reminiscent of me having swallowed a beach ball 😂😂

ArkAdyRose that was my thought too; surely something would be visible if there were two floating around!!

I don't think my friends are rude (maybe the stranger was!!) they just like being involved but they also know how much it freaks me out to think about twins. They're just mean!!

I have twins. I think these days, it would be pretty uncommon for them not to have caught that it was twins at the early scan tbh. It was certainly pretty immediately obvious at our 7 week scan.

Twin mums get prescribed huge doses of folic acid and are looked after a bit differently (more scans, specialist consultants etc) than Singleton mums so they are keen to identify ASAP.

I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

I was huge and was regularly asked “is it twins?” by some wit who was then visibly disappointed when I said yes so I came to the conclusion that people only say “I bet it’s twins” to be rude.

I'm having twins and the main indicator for me was really bad morning sickness in the first tri. I was showing quite early, but not hugely so. A couple of my friends were surprised when I told them because they thought I'd be bigger.

So size isn't always the biggest clue!

If you have had a scan and it's not twins it's unlikely to be twins

I'm on my third and huge. Also feel really ill this time around, but definitely only one baby bouncing around in there. I had similar comments and honestly I'm sick to death of people making comments on my body.

I'm pregnant with my third (33wks) and I am pretty much told on a daily basis how big I am. People still say 'Are you sure there's only one in there' ....it drives me mad. I think it's rude tbh, I think when you become pregnant people think it's their right to comment on your size. They wouldn't dream of it if you weren't pregnant!!!

Unfortunately once you get passed the first pregnancy the muscles etc 'give way' a lot easier so you will be bigger than with previous pregnancies.

Twins here too, and they were definitely visible on a 6 week scan - 2 sacs, 2 very-tiny-but-distinct heartbeats. As others have said, there’s not a lot for one to hide behind . Hope you’re feeling much better soon.

I am gleefully enjoying the look on the faces of people who say “are you sure you haven’t got two in there, ha ha” when I reply “I have, actually...” Hopefully it may discourage them from trying that one on someone else!
