Is NCT worth it?

I've heard good things about NCT classes for meeting other Mums and gaining a support network in your area.

Being the first out of my friends to have a baby this could be invaluable, I have one friend due 5 weeks after me, but she lives an hour away, so I was set on doing NCT..

Until I saw the price... £352! Is it worth it? It seems like a lot of money, we could afford it but obviously don't want to spend unnecessarily when there's so many things we need to get for baby and do in the house etc.

All opinions appreciated!

I think if you are the type of person who can put yourself out there and go to baby groups and make friends then it's likely not worth it.

For me it was invaluable in the first months having a readymade group of friends in the locality as I knew no one in the area and struggled a lot if I didn't have a reason to leave the house.

I moved away at 6 months and really miss the comraderie and people to hang out with. In terms of information, it's nothing you won't learn elsewhere- potentially if your other half is unlikely to do any of their own research then it's worth it for them as I know when my standard delivery turned to an emergancy c it really helped my OH that he vaguely knew what was going on.

NCT classes are quite costly and its not up-to the mark.I have recently being into one of the courses hearing good reviews but to my disappointment its not what i was expecting. The NCT teachers skips all the answers to the questions saying its beyond her knowledge. Please don't waste your hard earned money.
