Second baby - induced first time

I was induced at 39+3 last time (waters broke but no contractions). I’m 39 weeks tomorrow with baby2 and starting to worry that my body won’t know what to do this time and I’ll end up being induced again! Does anyone know if this is a thing? Are women who were induced first time more likely to be induced second time? Two of my closest friends have just had their second babies this year and both were induced with both babies. I’ve been having period like cramps for over a week now and strong bh contractions - I didn’t get this first time round and was hopeful that it was a good sign. However, after waking up in the middle of the night on Friday with agonising pains and contractions all symptoms have disappeared....

I realise I’m probably over analysing - just so desperate not to be induced again!!

Not sure if this is a thing as such but I was induced both times and the saving grace was that second time was MUCH easier and quicker.
Manually broken waters to baby arriving in under 4 hours!
So if you do have to be induced, it may not be at all like first time round (however that might have been for you)

If you’re desperate not to be induced, you can decline it and ask for expectant management.

There are risks and benefits to both choices and these should be explained to you by your midwife (but it’s likely they’ll just book you in for induction at +10 without telling you that you have a choice)

I was induced at +15 with DD, spontaneous labour with DS on EDD by my dates, +11 by hospital dates.

Thanks for the replies - I’m pretty sure my waters have just broke! No contractions as of yet but I don’t know how soon after is normal to get them as I didn’t have any last time...praying that it all starts naturally.

Jojo - thanks for that comment. My two friends have also said they found second induction easier and felt more in control so it’s reassuring to hear that.

Induced first time.

The second time, I had a lovely home birth.
The two experiences were totally different.

I had a week of really strong braxton hicks type stuff, but once she was ready to be born, my body knew what to do.

I had exactly what you had first time round. This time (13 weeks only) I've spoken to midwife and refused to have induction. (Last time was just so horrible and long and ended in c section) midwife said I can choose anything I like this time. I might choose a c section, but just to let you know- you don't have to be induced if you don't want to.

I was induced first time which ended in EMCS so really hoping for natural this time!

All that worrying and over thinking for nothing! Baby came on her own pretty quickly after my post - birth went very smoothly and there wasn’t even time for pain relief! Thanks for all the replies

My first induction I wasn't budging. Ended up on the drip. It was fucking awful my brain sort of switched off. I remember nothing of it itedbto severe PND. Second time I was petrified I was induced due to cholestasis. I was having contractions then they completely stopped about 20 hours in. I was 1cm after 24 hours. After pulling out the Tampax thing things really got going. I didn't need the drip. It was a beautiful labour. I really enjoyed the experience. I was amazed how my body just did it. I remember all of it. No two are the same and hope all goes well for you x
