"Older" mums to be here?

I just wondered if there were any other "older" mums to be on this board? I'm 40 and expecting my 1st, but really really early days and I know I am high risk because of my age.

Would love to hear from anybody else in same boat.

Me! I am 37 and 37 weeks pregnant with my first. My little boy arriving via csection next week.

I'm nearly 40 and expecting my second ds in around 9 weeks. I'm much more tired this time....other than that it's all good. How are you feeling op?

I'm 41 and it's my 4th but with a massive age gap my youngest is 21 middle is 23 and oldest 25. I'm 31 weeks. Very tired most of the time and horrendous heartburn other than that all good and not to much longer to go 😉

I'm only 6 weeks (I think) one site is saying 4, but the rest 6, so not entirely sure. I am not too bad. No nausea at all, but my biggest gripe so far has been headaches and just feeling absolutely shattered already!

Have you cut out caffeine op?? That gave me headaches in the beginning.

I'll be 40 just after this one is born. Was never this tired first time when younger.

I am reading (way too much) into things and have kind of freaked myself about age and the increased chance of birth defects. Is anybody requesting the Amniocentesis test?

I paid for nipt tests at 10 weeks shortcake.
Otherwise you get scan and blood tests at 12 weeks and if low results they can give you an amnio but I thought they wouldn't do that until 20 weeks?

I’m probably on the younger side of your scale, DD1 was born when I was 35 and DC2 is due when I’ll be 37 (nearly 38).

I'm 44, and 33 weeks. Try not to worry about your age too much, everything seems to be doom and gloom after 40, but its not always the case.
I had the harmony test for peace of mind as I knew my probability of risk would be high based on my age alone regarding the NHS blood tests. My harmony result was low risk and subsequent scans all normal and well. I have cruised through this pregnancy so far.

Me. I'm 44 and 36wks+5. I paid for the Harmony test at 14 wks. It was worth it for peace of mind and to find out the sex.

I was 43 when I had my DS and the hospital staff were full of gloomy stats and over cautious. My pregnancy was a breeze and the birth was fine (induced at 42 weeks) so try not to get over anxious. I had the amnio test because my DH was worried but that was the worst bit of the pregnancy for me. Try to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. One of my mum pals had twins in her forties. She was fine too.

I don't know my step mums exact age, but she's definately 45+, my dad is 51 and they have a 5 year old together. That's a 19 year difference between older (me) and youngest.

Hi I'm 39 (not far off 40) and had my first on Saturday morning. Was lucky enough to have the easiest pregnancy. Worked until last Thursday was in the gym on Friday morning before going into labour Friday evening. Fortunately my doctors never made a big deal about my age and I absolutely loved being pregnant once I got over the initial anxiety. I really hope everything works out well for you!

Thanks @TheCaravan that is so reassuring. I am prone to look at the negatives in everything, which I know isn't good.

The gym? What kind of exercise classes can I do? I regularly do Clubbercise, but wasn't sure if it was too strenuous.

I'm 45. Youngest is 1 then 2.5 then I have a 23 year old 18 and 19 year old

I was running or run/walking til about 35 weeks and was doing body attack which is cardio based all the way through. The instructors were great and just gave options for exercises that were not suitable and I just listened to my body and stopped when things felt too tough.
