16 week midwife appointment?

I have a feeling my midwife told me at the booking appointment that there would be one at 16 weeks but I'm sure she didn't give me a date on the day. I can't spot any confirmation in my maternity notes just that it looks like it says something about an appointment at 16/40 but I can't read the writing?!

I've had quite a few appointments lately with CVS and additional scans and feel a bit awkward leaving work again next week - I've been given all my blood results from booking appointment already at the CVS appointment.

Is there always a 16 week appointment and is it really important? Obviously if it is I'll go but lots of extras with cardiac scan, early anomaly etc taking time out and any questions I've had I've asked then so not sure what midwife would go through?

If it's your first baby then yes there'll be a 16 week appointment. It was the first time I got to hear the heartbeat and also met my midwife as she'd been unavailable for my booking appointment. Don't remember anything else about it though but you can phone up the midwives nd ask them to double check for you... the number of times I've had to do that because I forgot... (the 16/40 is the week you'll be in the pregnancy btw)

Blood pressure, urine testing, heartbeat via Doppler.
Check on your well being and asks what else is going on.

Depending on where you are and how the system operates you might be responsible for making your own appointments: with my midwife unit it's up to me to call and arrange appointments as they can't book more than a few weeks in advance.
