seems like everything i like and crave is on the foods to avoid list.

my sister keeps telling me i cant ghave soft whip ice cream from the ice cream van, i can have salads from salad bars etc etc. we are all going to harvester at the end of the month and i dont fancy a lecture if i go for a salad. please someone tell me they are ok.

I don't like them personally, and don't buy products with them in, but there is no evidence they do any harm in pregnancy. I honestly thing artificial sweeteners have no value and all the evidence I've seen is that they don't help weight control either as people who drink diet drinks (even if they don't know they are diet) tend to eat more calories to make up the difference. It seems your body knows there's something missing even if your tastebuds/brain doesn't. I'd avoid, but not because of pregnancy.

I read Splenda was fine and approved for use in pregnancy in USA and I do use in my tea. I generally avoid most artifical sweetners though and try to drink plain water/ fruit juice rather than squash.
