Lower back ache, early pregnancy

Hi everyone. I'm currently 4 weeks pregnant and my lower back is so uncomfortable, I'm not sure if it's my tail bone or if it's coming from inside. It's not a pain as such, but it's more of a constant discomfort. Is this normal? Of course I know back ache is normal in pregnancy, but this early? I have two children and can't remember being so uncomfortable so soon! I'm just worried it could be a sign of miscarriage (of course I would assume the worst), my previous miscarriages have had no signs at all though so I really don't know...

any help would be appreciated! Thank you

I can't help you chocolate but I'm also 4 weeks with back ache if that helps!

Yes it can be normal chocolate I had a hen do when I was 4 weeks and I remember my lower back killing me all night (we'd also had a busy day). Just a very uncomfortable feeling. Hopefully it will ease in the next few days.

And congrats! X

I had lower back pain from week 4ish too. I know it seems a bit early for extra pillows, but one between my knees really helped.

Thank you for the replies!
MrsL2016 - last night I was close to tears I was so uncomfortable! I was propped up by loads of pillows but the one in between my legs helped the most. I seem to have developed restless leg syndrome

I feel for you Chocolate. Mine has gotten better as the weeks have gone on. Hopefully yours will too.

Same here. At about 4-5weeks I struggled to sleep as my tail bone just hurt/ felt stuck.

Apparantly normal. Hormone related.

MrsL2016 · 15/09/2017 20:27

I have heard similar. The extra hormones soften the joints and ligaments in the pelvis.

ChocolatePancake · 16/09/2017 22:32

That's how it feels LooseMoose28! Awful. I had SPD with my last pregnancy so I'm hoping this isn't a sign of things to come in the loosening of joints department

Im now 9 weeks and it all seems normal again. I have a horse and couldn't comfortably ride due to the tail bone thing. Rode for 2 hours today and feel fine.

Mine was pretty bad first trimester - cushion between the knees at night has cleared it up pretty much completely (am 21 weeks now).
