Hello,

I'm 17 weeks and already struggling with sleeping. I usually sleep on my back and have been practicing sleeping on my side as soon as I found out I was pregnant. So far it's been fine, I've done a mixture of side and back sleeping. From 16 weeks if I rolled onto my back during my sleep I would wake up feeling like I needed the toilet, even though that wasn't the case. The last 5 nights, it feels super uncomfortable lying on my back at all so I wake up and have to go back on my side but the problem is that's also painful, my left shoulder area and ear get sore after a while. At the moment it's waking me multiple times in the night and I feel exhausted when I wake so I'm obviously getting a rubbish nights sleep. I've been sleeping with a cushion between my legs which feels comfortable but doesn't stay there all night. I wasn't expecting this to be an issue so early on. Any tips would be so welcome, thanks in advance x

I feel the same at 18 weeks so will be watching this thread with interest!

I've been looking at those Dreamgenii pregnancy pillows but I get so hot during the night at the moment that I can't face wrapping myself up in one of those til the weather goes a bit cooler.

I was sitting on the side of the bed at 5am the other morning, after another toilet trip, trying to face lying back down on my left side despite the aching thigh, shoulder and ear (what is it with the sore ear?!) and I thought "blimey, at this rate the next good night's sleep I'm going to get will be when the baby is born. Oh, wait a minute...." Grin

Decemberfairy I'm also getting really hot at night, I'm usually the opposite but have the same concerns about a pillow and getting even hotter. At the same time I'm really not coping with the lack of sleep so have a totally open mind.
Also, there are about 3 different shaped pillows to chose from? Which one would be best for us?
Sorry to hear about your ear too - it's very weird!

Aldi have a maternity pillow for 5.99 - I'm a back sleeper and it's helped me get slowly more comfortable Smile
