I went to an early pregnancy scan today with the thought in my head that I was about 6 weeks pregnant. They did an internal scan and saw an approx 5mm cystic mass in my uterus.
The sonographer said it's too early to say whether or not is is a viable pregnancy and she couldn't see a yolk sac at this stage.
I'd gone to the early pregnancy appointment because of tummy cramps (which I am almost 100% positive is IBS and nothing baby related) and they have taken blood today which they will compare with more blood they plan to take in another 2 days time. This, I'm told, is to see whether I have a normal pregnancy, an ectopic pregnancy or a failing pregnancy.
I felt a mixture of disappointment that instead of seeing the early stages of my baby growing away I only saw a black circle which the nurse would not confirm is a pregnancy and also anxiety that there may be a problem.
I've got to wait for 48 hours now until I have my next lot of blood taken and I'm still in a lot of pain (not been for a #2 in 3-4 days!)
What I'm hoping is that there are more women out there who have had this experience and who have had healthy pregnancies develop?
Just some reassurance please ladies.
This is my first baby (at 33) and my partner is working overseas during this time which makes it a little more unsettling.
