Running in pregnancy - recommend a belly support?

Hi ladies,

For those of you who have continued to run during your pregnancy - do you use a belly/bump support? If so, what do you use and do you find it beneficial?

I have a belly band but it seems a bit bulky to run with and the fabric is not very breathable.

Hiya I've tried to carry on running as much as possible and bump seems to stay in place pretty well even with no support. Am now 32 weeks and just doing run-walk on treadmill a few times a week as feel low down pressure after running more than a couple of minutes at a time. Would also be interested to know for next time if there are any decent supports out there though...

I kept on running and never used a belly band. It isn't your belly that needs support anyway in my experience, it's your pelvic floor.

I quit doing proper runs when it stopped feeling good but kept up other kinds of working out.

I ran 5kms Til about 27 weeks both times, I think a long tight running top and some bigger running tights gave enough tummy support. The only reason I stopped was that I started to ache in the ligaments around my hips and pelvis after I ran.

I run with a MamaFix from NordiCare, though it's more to keep my hips aligned (I have SPD) than bump support.

Thanks for all the great replies! This is my second pregnancy and things feel 'heavier' than last pregnancy when I run so I thought I support might feel good.

If you find it helps, let us know :) I imagine your core muscles might be weaker in a 2nd time pregnancy, so maybe some specific core work would help as well? Lots of planking!

I will! Argghh I hate planks but maybe I do need to look at some pregnancy-friendly core work.
