Over 5 weeks and no symptoms

Hi all

I hope this doesn't offend anyone. I wonder if i am being silly. I am 5 weeks and 6 days and I have no symptoms of pregnancy. I am starting to question the two tests I took. This is my first pregnancy and my oartner and I have decided we don't want to tell the family until the 12 weeks scan. Other than a bit of cramp on Friday night, my boobs don't hurt, I'm not throwing up, i have no cravings and the only reason for frequent toilet visits is I'm drinking more water. Is it that I am lucky or should I expect issues later like i might not be able to breastfeed? Ive not bled so i hope my little pip is still there. Again sorry if this sounds stupid. I just don't know what to think especially when the books say I should be feeling these things! Any advice would be great.

Don't worry. I had irregular periods and made it to roughly 17 weeks before it became obvious I was pregnant. I had no morning sickness, nothing.

Everyone is different, I had one spell of feeling sick for 5seconds and then nothing. I did have sore boobs and didn't like the smell of pork cooking however all that stopped at 7/ 8 weeks. I was also tired but I think that was because I wasn't sleeping well due to worrying, and like you I was going to the toilets lots but only because I was drinking more ( and kept wanting to check that I wasn't bleeding).

We had an early scan at 7weeks 3days and saw babies heartbeat. Could you book yourself in for a private scan for piece of mind.

You're only 5weeks so you may get some symptoms a bit later, try and relax and enjoy it. Just because you have no symptoms does not mean that you will have any problems breastfeeding.

Sorry I don't know why that has posted twice.

Hi OP, I also had no symptoms at that stage. Was slightly tired weeks 7-10ish with sore boobs but if I hadn't known I was pregnant I probably would have just thought I was run down/hormonal (irregular periods). 19 weeks now and starting to get a bump and feel the baby which are my first 'real' signs. I've just been very lucky and you might be the same, every pregnancy is different! That being said, at only 5 weeks there's still time for things to kick in with a vengeance - I've heard sickness often starts post week 6...

Some women don't have symptoms. Some don't develop them till a bit later. It's only if you have symptoms and they suddenly stop that you have to be concerned.

Congratulations!

Figgygal · 08/08/2017 07:55

I've had 2 babies now and no symptoms with either except the bump Smile

annlee3817 · 08/08/2017 07:59

I didn't have any symptoms until around 8 weeks and then it was just sore boobs and tiredness. You're still quite early for symptoms, so try not to worry too much. Boobs not hurting isn't a sign that you won't be able to breastfeed :)

Sundaylunchhappy · 08/08/2017 08:40

No expert but having compared notes with friends/relatives it really is true that 'everyone is different'.

I'm currently in bed with boobs on fire, intense nausea and much wind energy Blush

My sister on the other hand could get up, throw up and then crack on with her day. A friend of mine had nothing at all.

I'm sure as other posters have implied, your symptoms will be as unique as your pregnancy. Good luck with everything and try not to worry Flowers

Didnt have any symptoms til I started vomming up my organs at 8ish weeks xxx

Bumpins19 · 08/08/2017 19:08

Echoing what everybody else said that every pregnancy is different and it's perfectly 'normal' (whatever normal is!) not to have any symptoms at 5 weeks.

That being said, this did make me laugh - I remember whinging to DH around week 5 or 6 that I didn't have any symptoms and didn't feel pregnant and where was my morning sickness and so on. I was then bedridden with morning sickness for much of weeks 7 and 8 and constantly whinged to DH about how awful I felt...hope that doesn't happen to you OP but just goes to show!

peachgreen · 08/08/2017 19:51

Totally normal, I had nothing until 6+3 and then vomited several times a day every day for 9 weeks. WOO. Wink

It is reassuring when you have symptoms though so I understand!

Hmmalittlefishy · 08/08/2017 19:55

3 happily breastfed babies here and no pregnancy symptoms. I did get exhausted about 8/10 weeks at the end of the day but apart from that nothing. It doesn't have correlation with anything - gender, size, breastfeeding so try not to worry and enjoy it (only don't mention it to any other pregnant women who are sick morning till night Wink

boopdoop · 08/08/2017 20:17

Similar to Bumpins, around 5-6 weeks I was worrying about lack of symptoms, by 7 weeks i felt horrendous, being sick etc, and was desperate for the symptoms to go away! Now 11 weeks, they've started to ease and I started panicking that they were going! Pregnancy is so stressful.

Try not to worry too much, everyone really is different and it's likely you'll get some symptoms in the coming weeks. If you are really worried maybe book a private scan after 6 weeks?

chocolatesa · 08/08/2017 20:39

Give it time. I was fine until 6 weeks and then I threw up every day Sad

Crumbelina · 08/08/2017 20:42

Early days! I was wondering the same at 5 weeks. Bang on 6 weeks the symptoms really hit me. Sad

Redsquirrel88 · 09/08/2017 05:28

Wow I'm overwhelmed by the responses here. It's so reassuring to hear other people's experiences. I'm 6 weeks today and so blessed every morning. Thank you all so much for taking the time to reply. I feel assured and will enjoy feeling fine! Thank you for the suggestions on a private scan- all booked in for this weekend. What a lovely support network. Thanks Again! As some of you say it still may come. Flowers
