Just a lighthearted one:my wife is (probably about)11 weeks pregnant with our first ,and we're going to start telling more family next week.
What I wanted other's takes on was this:when people ask "were you trying",how do you define "trying"?
We weren't tracking ovulation or using a schedule or such, but nor were we using contraceptives:so what camp does that put us in?! Confused WinkBlush

No idea but I've been asked a few times if we were "trying for twins" (I have twins). But how does that even work? Fucking extra hard/star jumps after? 😂

Do people really ask if you were trying ? Iv been pregnant 4times and no one ever asked me that ! I'd think they were bloody rude if they did

My friend's mother mentioned they weren't trying when they had her. I am not sure if this was directly to her or just in passing when she was in the room. She thought that meant she had been an unwanted accident and was upset about it for years. Eventually they had another conversation and friend's mother revealed that what she meant was they were married and waiting for her to fall pregnant eventually but weren't doing anything weird like timing what day of the month to have sex. So clearly people mean different things when they say trying.

Another one who shared with Kate. DS was born the same day as George. The royals always steal my thunder, there's been loads of milestones in my life which have coincided with royal jubilees, births, weddings. They can't hack me having the limelight Grin

Oops, wrong thread. Sorry Blush

In reply to this one, yes shagging without contraception is 'trying' but I'd tell anyone other than a HCP to jog on if they asked me that question.

To me, trying to conceive means coming off contraception.

BertieBotts · 31/07/2017 16:11

"Were you trying for twins" is actually "Did you have IVF". Which is pretty rude IMO.

ID twins so egg split rather than 2 eggs. Never occurred to me that's what they meant but probably did. That's the least insensitive comment I had so they brush over me now. People are idiots.
