Confused by growth scan

Had a growth scan today as my fundal height was measuring 1cm less than expected

Now been told baby is on 10th centile (fundal height has been tracking just above 50th) and have slightly elevated amniotic fluid though she said not "excessive" but it was 7.6cm and normal upper limit is 7.2cm

I have to go back in 2 weeks by which point I will be 38 weeks but I am now worrying and have no idea what any of this really means

I don't want to head over to Dr Google or I'll be a wreck but I am really worries I am going to end up having to have a hospital birth instead of the midwife led centre I have planned

Try not to worry (easier said than done I know), two weeks can seem like forever at this point. Growth scans are notoriously off when it comes to babies estimated weight and centile, also 1cm on fundal is not too bad, I think if they were very worried you'd be in every day for observation if you see what I mean, not to say they're not worried but it's usual at 36 weeks for things to be a bit off.

When are you next seeing your midwife? See if you can ask her all the questions and/or routes to go next. I had a friend who at 37 weeks the bump was measuring small and it turned out to be LOW amniotic fluid. She was induced at 38+4 but she was daily monitored at the hospital and when the fluid didn't go back up they made a decision to speed things up she was kept very much in the loop. She had a very healthy baby boy and a normal delivery despite being induced. Just get yourself all the information but first make a cuppa and get your feet up for a bit x

Try and talk to your midwife if you're worried

At one appointment I was measuring 5 weeks ahead! They didn't send me to growth scan. At the next appointment I was back on track and baby was 7lb 4oz when she was born.

My friend had growth scans all the way through pregnancy and was told she was having a huge baby, it was 7lb 7oz when it was born.

They are very inaccurate generally so try not to worry too much xx

I'm not overly worried about baby as the measurements they have taken would only put him a week behind which actually tallies better with my own dates which they have refused to listen to. I'm mostly worried because I know 3 people that were due within a month of me and all have ended up with early induction due to growth scans (and none had a baby as small as they were saying)

I really hate hospitals after a few bad experiences over the years and the midwife led centre would allow me to avoid those issues but I am concerned that now even if I refused induction I will end up "consultant led" and not able to have the delivery I want. Also concerned what happens if I went into labour before the next scan in terms of where I go.
