I've bought some maxi dresses from Primark for £6 each which are doing the trick and keep getting complimented on!

yolkybokey · 17/07/2017 12:06

For me it's been big baggy jumpsuits all the way - ASOS have some great ones (i don't buy maternity, just a bigger size than usual)

I also second big floaty dresses! I would personally find trying to get into shorts a nightmare (I am huge at 35 weeks tho!)

H&M do comfy maternity shorts (denim) for £15 I think? I bought a pair and have been living in them during the hot weather!

denim mat shorts from jojo were my best mat clothing purchase of all. Still wearing postpartum while i lose the weight

Glitterbubble · 17/07/2017 13:09

I tried to buy denim shorts in H&M yesterday, £20. My pre pregnancy size was an 8 for bottoms, tried on a size 10... no chance! Couldn't get them on! And yet the linen one I bought a couple of weeks ago in a 10 are fine! I gave up and bought two dresses instead!!

I know it's not your question but maybe think about buying some cheap stretchy material non maternity stuff? I bought 2 Large dresses from H&M for winter and wore them to 9 months. Granted, they looked a big baggy up top and not great overall but hey, it was only for a short while!

I do have some mat jeans I am selling on eBay. If they don't sell, I can send them to you and you can cut into shorts? M&S ripped jeans with over bump band.....

I bought a few summer dresses from ASOS which were reasonably priced. I also have a stretchy maxi dress which fits well (not maternity).

I'm so grateful for the warm weather at the moment because I can't stand anything tight round my bump now (32 wks) which rules out pretty much anything apart from dresses.

I've got a few maternity maxi dresses from Boohoo and they were super cheap. Very comfortable and the fabric's decent enough for something I know I won't need forever.

I've got an aversion to anything tent-like so these are great as they're ruched at the bump and neat fitting everywhere else.

EssentialHummus · 17/07/2017 15:25

Yy to Primark maxi dresses!

PuddingPie16 · 17/07/2017 15:41

Another one for h&m! I have bought maternity and non-maternity from there during my pregnancy. It can be a lot cheaper buying nice jersey dresses from there in non-maternity (got a couple for less than £15) and you wouldn't be able to tell...also get to wear them afterwards! Smile

SingCat · 20/07/2017 09:11

I'm pleased with the denim shorts I got from Next maternity - got them in my usual size and they were a bit large at first (though still wearable), but now perfect at 32 weeks.

Sunshinegirl82 · 20/07/2017 10:28

Asos are worth a look

Gothbaby · 20/07/2017 12:00

I bought a nice length skirt that was 3 sizes too big, cheap, looks ace and fits comfy around the bump :) i say take the time to try some regular clothes a few sizes up. you can get some great stuff for non maternity prices x

THirdEeye · 20/07/2017 12:20

I bought some maternity denim shorts from new look for about £19 and also bought some normal drawstring shorts (next size up) in primark.

Many of my tops are from new look/H&M/primark, I've just again bought the next size up and been more picky with the shape.

And yes to stretchy dresses from primark/boohoo.

leighdinglady · 20/07/2017 15:52

Remember H&M sizing is awful and you always need to order a size up

NinaMarieP · 20/07/2017 20:20

I've got a pair of denim shorts from Asda and they are great (and cheap!)

I've had a lot of stuff off eBay. It's cheaper (coz it's second hand) but you can then sell it on again after you've worn it. Got some denim asos maternity shorts for about £3 for my holidays, which I didn't mind paying at all! Got loads of good bargains on there, like a chi chi London maternity dress for a wedding for £10 that is still selling online for £70ish. Worth a look!

silkpyjamasallday · 21/07/2017 09:47

I didn't buy any specific maternity clothing just adapted stuff I already had to work with a midi jersey tube skirt from missguided (loads of colours and double layered so not see through, can be worn over or under your bump) and a pair of super low rise shorts from top shop a few sizes up from my pre pregnancy size. I couldn't understand the bump band bits on summer maternity clothes, it makes them hot and sweaty to wear and I was sweaty enough without extra unnecessary layers!
