Found out I'm having twins, single sack

Hi

I'm 8 weeks pregnant, which in itself is something I didn't think would happen again (I have a 4 year old DS). I have PCOS and had an ectopic pregnancy in September last year, after 8 months of trying to conceive with clomid, which resulted in the loss of a Fallopian tube. We'd been recently told that IVF was looking like our only option at this point but if seems that we have been able to conceive naturally.

Had an early scan today which has revealed identical twins - this has literally floored us!

The sonographer could only see one sac, which since googling tonight, I can see is really really high risk. We have another scan in two weeks to investigate further.

Just wondered if there's anyone out there who has had experience of twins who shared a sac?

I'm really frightened now by it all.

Ah, thank you so much for telling me about your experience. Congratulations btw!

The sonographer was really lovely today but there was little information given really and it wasn't clear that things could change in the next few weeks. 2 weeks to wait until the next scan feels an awfully long time away.

I'm trying to relax and let the news sink in but it's just so much of a shock!! I also feels absolutely dreadful with morning sickness, so lots of lying around looking at google on my phone. Not good.

You're absolutely right though - just need to enjoy and appreciate that I'm actually pregnant

Mcma twins are extremely rare, chances are they will find a separating membrane around 12 weeks. Mcda twins are the most common type of identical twin and less risky than mcma twins but still carry a risk of TTTS. I had dcda twin girls who will be 5 soon.

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

I had a private scan at 7+5 and they couldn't tell if there were one or two sacs. Dating scan showed two sacs so don't worry just yet!

Yeah - think I will keep in denial about all of that for as long as possible!
