Implantation bleed at 8 weeks?

Hi :)

I was hoping for a bit of advice. This is my first pregnancy and I am a bit concerned about some bleeding I had this morning. Sorry if this is TMI but it was quite pink and it was all over the tissue when I wiped, went to the toilet an hour later and still the same, it was similar to what the first day of my period is usually like. It has now subsided and I did not experience any cramps at all.

As luck would have it I had my booking appointment today so I mentioned it to the midwife who was lovely and didnt seem concerned at all. She just said its probably implantation bleeding .. As she did not seem concerned we carried on with the appointment.

Now I have gone away I am just concerned that it may not be implantation bleeding - I was under the impression that this happens a lot earlier than 8 weeks.

Has anyone else gone through this and everything been ok or should I be more concerned?

Thanks x

I have had this a quite a few times - you should call your GP and they will most likely refer you to the EPC to be seen.
With me it was nothing (still no idea why) but best to be checked out :)

Thanks Lucy, I think you are right - Even if its nothing I will feel much better if they can scan and re assure me

@Nat199082 she might mean placental implantation bleeding.. I too had a bleed (more brown in colour) at 8 weeks and 3 days and was told it's probably implantation which I was confused about until somebody told me it meant placenta.. at 8 weeks you're also due your second period which, although it isn't an actual period, slot of people are known to have this type of spotting around their period time.
I did panic and got a private scan booked for the next day and saw a healthy, happy & bouncy baby!

@poppylou27 Ah i didn't realise there was such thing as placental bleeding. This would be about the time I would get my period too so that would make sense, My main concern is that I feel really good today - I have felt rotten most days and suddenly feel ok today ... which is making me worry. Think I might just book a scan - do I have to do this privately do you know or can I just ring local EPU?

@Nat199082 I had a lull in symptoms too which is what panicked me into going privately as my epu wouldn't see me for a 4 days.. if you see your GP asap they can refer you to epu who will scan you but might not be for a couple of days - where I live you can't ring the epu directly for a scan unfortunately although you could always give it a go and see what they say but failing that then I'd get in with your GP for a referral.. if it takes too long or you're getting more worried then you could have a google around for private scans in your area.
Fingers crossed everything is okay

Hi

Just wanted to update as sometimes when I was searching for things I hated not knowing the final outcome.

Bleeding did not get heavier and I had some brown discharge but was sent to EPU to double check and was told there was no heartbeat. Baby had grown but as they saw the HB at 6 weeks and it's now gone there isn't hope for a successful pregnancy.

I'm compliantly devastated, I now have to decide if I want to wait to naturally miscarry or have them go in and remove pregnancy.

As much as I want this awful experience over with quickly I think natural is the way to go - let my body do what it's supposed to. I have read somewhere that this has happened to people before and then they have gone back and the heartbeat was there! Clutching at straws I know and my husband has told me not to think that way as I'm setting myself up for more disappointment... but until it's left my body I'm still praying.
