Pregnancy Test - How Early? Experiences please!

How early have you taken a test and got a positive result?

I have been googling this like mad recently. The test manufacturers confuse things by saying how accurate their tests are however many days "before your period" - actually it should be AFTER OVULATION. So if you have a short cycle like me, even sensitive tests will not show anything 6 days before your period.
As (healthy) implantation almost always occurs between 6 and 10 days after ovulation, with the most common being 9, and it can take between 2-4 days for there to be enough hormone in the urine after implantation has occured, the first positive you would be able to get would be between 8 days and 14 days. So if you ovulated on day 14, you could test from day 22, but wouldn't be "out" for that month until day 28. The most common day for a first positive should in theory be 12 days after ovulation (ie day 26), as that is 9 + 3. Again, for someone with a short cycle, this could be several days AFTER their missed period, and still be well within the realms of normal.

I didn't get a positive, even a very faint one until the day my period was due.

Hello ladies, I am six days late on my period and took two first response early pregnancy test (sensitivity 6) which both showed a medium (not dark) positive result. The next day I took two cheapo tests (sensitivity 25) and these are both negative. Looks like a slight evap line showed up after the results window. Am I likely to be pregnant? Have had slightly sore boobs off and on but not much else. Blood test Tuesday but wondered about your experiences? I've read pregnancy test should show up even on the cheapos a few days after your period is due. Thanks xx
