Please can anyone give me some advice. I am 13+3 and have had on and off bleeding throughout. I've had 4 early scans + 12 week scan my baby is healthy wriggly and a strong heartbeat. I have been told today that I have fluid in my cervix(I've no idea what this is) and my cervix is open half a cm, they are treating this as a threatened miscarriage and said I can't have a stitch until 18-20 weeks as it's not viable?!? I'm scared and feel like I've been sent home to miscarry my first baby? Anyone had anything similar that can offer advice please?

Good to hear that you got some good news today op.
I'm glad you're transferring to Stepping Hill.
I'm pretty sure you can self refer there too so you might not even have to wait for the hospital to transfer you.
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy

@kate1989 sorry I know this is an old post but yesterday, after going to A&E because of bleeding, I was very quickly examined and told my cervix looks slightly open. I too was just simply sent home and told that miscarriage is inevitable. I don't know what to do. I'm seeing my midwife for the first time Tuesday and hoping she can shed more light on the matter. Just feel like we've been left with no information...

kate1989 · 22/08/2019 20:03

Oh bless you... how far along are you?

I got home from the hospital and felt like my world have fallen down around me, only for my sister getting on the phone and demanding I see someone the next day did I get an appointment. Do not give up. Unfortunately these things do happen, I was very lucky that they got mine wrong, i pray this is the case for you too. But even if they havent got it wrong this is your body and your baby and you deserve to have exhausted every option available to you. Phone around every maternity department for hospitals in or around your are and get advise from each and i would demand to be seen again tomorrow. They said they couldnt do a stitch and yes it comes with its risks but dont give up. Push for more information xx

@kate1989 thanks so much for responding. I'm only 7 weeks, but we are obviously gutted. Feel like it's been snatched away from us and we've just been sent home to await the inevitable. I haven't bled any more today other then a very slight brown tinged discharge. Seeing my doctor tomorrow so will ask his advice... I don't want to get my hopes up and trying to just accept it but I just want it to be over now if it's going to eventually...

kate1989 · 22/08/2019 20:13

I had bleeding from the minute I took the first pregnancy test right through to the end and hemorrhaging. I dont want to tell you they are wrong as unfortunately this may not be the case but I strongly advice that you get second opinions. Maternity wards are open all night so I'd give then a call or ask your partner too. Please get more information this is your baby and you have every right to be informed and try everything you can. I have everything crossed for you and pray you have the outcome you want xxx
