Help! Have always suffered from acne and have really sensitive combination skin but just found out I'm pregnant and my skin is an oily open pored acne filled mess and I don't even know what I'm allowed to use!

Does anyone have experience of pregnancy acne and have any recommendations? I feel so hideous just now Blush

I had it really bad in first trimester and found that a tea tree and witch hazel toner really helped. Also carrying face blotting paper in bag at all times! The best type is the one with a light powder on it, rather than just the tracing paper type one.

This is the toner/cleanser that I got on really well with:

I read somewhere about sulphur soap and bought a bar off boots.com. It did really help to clear up my skin if you can stand the smell of sulpher for a short time when it gets wet!

Thanks - I'll have a look at these recommendations. Hope it doesn't last the whole pregnancy!

I thought sulfur was a no-no in pregnancy @2017Babyontheway? I've been reading loads about what I can and can't use so maybe I'm wrong though

If it makes you feel any better, mine calmed down about halfway through second trimester.

My acne came in the second trimester, around 18 weeks. 33 weeks now and it's nowhere near as bad as it was!
I went to see the doc and he prescribed me Acnecide, it's a benzoyl peroxide cream and has worked wonders x

I suffered badly and I've never had problem skin. I found a freederm treatement recommended by 'a model recommends' she does a baby blog called the uphill. Have a look at that because she interviewed a dermatologist who gave great advice. Smile
It stopped my acne being so cystic which really helped. I also used Una Brennan's Saylic Acid (spelt wrong) face mask which is fine to use as it's under the threshold. Anything you can buy over the counter should be fine and would have a warning if you can't use during pregnancy x
