2nd labour after being induced with 1st

Hi! I was wondering if anybody here had been induced first time round for being overdue and then gone into labour by yourself earlier, on time or slightly over the second time round? I am 34+3 days pregnant with dc2 and my first was induced at 41+5 and born at 42+1.
Thank you for any stories and advice Smile

I was induced with my first but not for being overdue.
With my second I was due to be induced due to being overdue but went into labour the night before! Having never experienced going into spontaneous labour before, it took an embarrassingly long time for me to realise I was in labour and not just desperate for the loo. It was my husband who suggested that it could possibly be labour, it had honestly never occurred to me.

Ah ok! Did you find going into labour by yourself a better experience than being induced?
I'm just really hoping this baby will actually come in the right month. My daughter was due in April and came in may. I've worked out if I'm to be induced and it all goes exactly the same as last time, this baby will come on the 1st of August!!

I was induced 3 days early with DD and she was born on her due date. Induction took a long time to work.

DS 2y2m later, he was overdue and after a failed sweep I was induced at 41+4. I was really worried but they reassured me that as my body had been through it before, the induction was likely to be quicker. Certainly the case for me as he was born the same day.

Now expecting #3 and there's already talk about inducing me again due to growth (DS was massive), bit weird I may never find out what it's like going into labour naturally!

I've read a lot on the internet that most women who were induced first time go on to be induced the second time Sad I was really hoping if I had a sweep at 39 weeks he might come out but I don't see my cervix even being effaced then because last time it all took forever and my body just didn't wanna do it by itself.

I was induced with my first the day after his due date as I had pre-eclampsia it took an age to get labour started but once underway it took 4 1/2 hours for him to arrive. With my second I had an uneventful pregnancy I went into labour naturally 8 days overdue but my daughter was in no rush and took 28 hours to arrive but she was back to back. My third was a text book pregnancy but when I went into labour naturally 2 days past her due date she arrived in approx 2 1/2 hours.

I was induced with my first and spontaneous labour with my 2nd. Like a poster earlier I had been in labour most of the day and hadn't realised thought ds was just lying funny on my bladder. Only when I realised the twinges were a regular 4 minutes apart did we guess Blush

Yes. I was induced (pessary only) when 42 weeks with ds1, went into labour at 42+1 and he was born v quickly. With ds2 I went into spontaneous labour at 41+3 (and he was also born v quickly). Ds3 came at 40+4, I felt he was a bit premature tbh ;)

Induced with Ds1 at 41+3 due to waters breaking but no labour. Induced with drip and was bloody awful. Took about 16hrs. Ds2 was 2 days overdue but was a natural 6hr labour. However, didn't realise I was in actual labour until about an hour before he arrived due to waters not breaking at all! Despite measuring the required contractions and a steady increase in pain it was manageable. Only had gas and air at the end.
Each labour is different so try nor to dwell on it.
Highly recommend an epidural if you are induced with a drip though.

Induced with DD1 at 42, took about 30hours from gel going on my cervix. DD2 was spontaneous labour at 40+4. Took 11ish hours but a slowish build up. Second time round was so much easier/better. 2 completely different experiences really

xyzandabc · 09/06/2017 19:51

1st was induced at 41+5
2nd arrived naturally at 41+3, very easy only 40 mins after arriving at hospital with just 10 mins gas and air.
3rd naturally at 41+6 though he got stuck and was quite traumatic with no pain relief.

I just have late babies. All different though.

Ooh ok 2 days over and 4 days over sounds hopeful!
I've asked if they would induce me earlier because it's my second and because my daughter was 9lb 3oz but they say it's always at 41+5 at this hospital unless I have health issues. My induction wasn't amazing but I wouldn't say it was horrendous but that may be because it's 2 years later and I've slightly forgotten haha. I had a tampon sort of thing at 41+5 and the gel at 41+6, they then broke my waters at 42 weeks and I went from absolutely no pain to full on contractions and the midwives didn't believe me!! From there I had gas and air and was monitored and given something to slow contractions down because they were 20 seconds apart. I got a fever and then had to have the drip and an epidural. My daughter was born 20 hours after they broke my waters. I'm hoping if I was to be induced again it would only take the tampon thing or gel to get things going!

xyzandabc do you normally have long period cycles? Mine were 40/41 days and my scan gave me a due date of July 17th but if I go by my cycle dates it's the 26th.
Did everyone try everything to get baby out in each pregnancy as well? With my first I tried absolutely everything that was safe to do and I feel like I can't really be bothered to do that this time because it definitely didn't make the slightest difference last time Hmm
