It's itching like mad. Argh. I had trush in my last pregnancy but it didnt really bother me so I never took anything for it.
Can I take something over the counter or do I need to see GP?

I developed internal thrush at some point during my pregnanxy however it was only picked up when I was about 40 weeks during a sweep...my midwife prescribed me with caneston (the pessary not oral medicine!)

I'd go see your gp. They'll check exactly what is going on and prescribe you something safe (usually canestan cream to begin with - followed by a pesary if needed). Don't be afraid to get it checked out by a professional - better safe than sorry. Do NOT use vagisil or similar medication - although they say on the vagisil website it is safe to use when pregnant, my gp said it isn't as it contains a numbing agent.

Im pretty sure oral meds can't be used in pregnancy and the pessary has to be done without the applicator but I never had it so early on so gp is best option.

Oh and if your pharmacy is anything like the ones where i live as soon as you mention pregnancy they practically frog march you to the gp Grin

If you have some coconut oil you can use that until you see the GP. There was a small study that showed it as being really effective against candida.

You will have to go to see your gp for thrush treatment while you are pregnant as it is not licenced for sale for treatment of pregnant women.

Same with a multitude of medications, pharmacies are not allowed to supply things off licence for legal reasons but Dr's can prescribe them.

Bit shit but it's the law and the Pharmacist doesn't want to risk being sued or losing their job. (can you tell I'm a Pharmacist who had been asked for things off licence and had to say no, head lice treatment for a pony, antibiotic ear drops for a dog, metronidazole tablets for a pigeon.....?)

Plus you will get it for free on prescription cos your pregnant!!!

As well as proper stuff, get some extra virgin organic coconut oil, scoop it into small balls and freeze it, then stick it up your fanjo. You will quite quickly experience one of the worst 45 seconds of your life, but keep doing it and it'll work.
