Arrrgghhh....so itchy! Prurigo gestationus??

I'm 18 weeks pregnant and have been super itchy since Weds last week. It's worse when I'm hot or in bed.

At first I thought maybe it was a reaction to some foam I put in a bath, but it's not calming down. I have a light rash, red pin pricks and it's fairly well spread out. But I'm itchy absolutely everywhere, especially my back, boobs and arms. Not really my legs though.

Most pregnancy related itching conditions seem to not kick in until the third trimester according to Google? Wondering if this might be prurigo gestationus or something unrelated?

I'll try and see my GP next week, but with the bank holiday it might be a while before I get an appointment. Any ideas what it is? Any ideas of topical treatment to calm the itching?

Sorry I haven't a clue but the chemist will be able to help if Boots has one in

Never mind Boots, get yourself to a doctor!

You should definitely get checked out by a doctor or midwife. Itching in pregnancy can be a sign of obstetric cholestasis, a liver condition.

My post does say I'm going to see my doctor, but it's a bank holiday.

OC tends to come on in the third trimester, doesn't have a rash and is mostly itchy hands and feet, so I'm not too concerned (although will get checked when I can get an appointment)

I have an appointment with my GP on Thurs. I'll update the the outcome as I know people search MN threads for advice and it's annoying when there's no conclusion.

Still spotty, less itchy in the day but flares up when hot at night

I'm very itchy all over too, not worried I think it's just hormones going crazy. Aveeno helped mine a bit.

Hi OP, I had this in my first pregnancy from about 14 weeks, I did get a blood test just to check nothing like cholestasis although that's usually a complication in the 3rd trimester I believe. I think it was just the hormones etc and it had tailed off by about 20 weeks so hopefully yours will too!
