Cravings anyone?

I have just eaten nearly my weight in satsumas. I don't think it's a craving as such but they taste amazing - I have also been rubbing the zest on the insides of my wrist for some unknown reason other than I can't get enough of the scent of heaven.

Last pregnancy I carried a bottle of sparkling water wherever I went. I HAD to have Twister ice lollies in the beginning weeks and would eat fruit by the bucket load.

Pregnancy before that I had marmite on everything. I used to be obsessed with the smell of wild orchid floor cleaner and the super cheap Aldi bathroom cleaner - I'd scrub the bathroom, run a bath, and sit and sniff the cleaner whilst in a fumey room of joy.

Anyone having or had mad cravings? Are my demands for satsumas a way of easing this bastarding morning sickness?

caglio I feel your pain. Luckily for DP the cafe in the hospital sold satsumas!

The only thing I wanted was salt and vinegar crisps. This was around 4-5 months.

Apple juice, orange juice, pineapple juice. Could drink litres of it, so long as it's ice cold.

Oooooh, Twiglets! I really want Twiglets right now.

I keep thinking I want a certain item but then it doesn't taste right. Tomato sandwiches and Twiglets would hit the spot right now - the idea of anything out there makes me want to vom. Even opening cupboards or taking lids off things has me swallowing sick down.

cineraria: I've never been to Mumbai, but your tap water craving is somehow very evocative!

Last pregnancy, cheap BLT sandwiches with flaccid processed bacon, lots of mayo, damp tomatoes, and iceberg. The kind you get at petrol stations. Salt and vinegar crisps, especially the maize ones that look like little chips.

This pregnancy: varieties of citrus and fruit craving. Lemon squash with fizzy water and lime slices is my current drink obsession. Oasis fruit punch (orange) ice cold (kept in freezer). Very cold pineapple. Oranges cut into quarters like at school sports matches and gnawed/sucked gleefully.

Also loving the smell of petrol. Is that some pica/ iron thing?

I do think cravings can be a way of your body saying what you need, it made sense to me when I read it somewhere. So Twiglets/Marmite = vitamin B etc.

I've ordered my shopping for the week, I think I may turn into a giant cracker as I've ordered so many different ones! And lots of other 'safe' snacks.

Like you shakey everything is making me feel sick at the moment. It's really wearing me down TBH, definitely worse than my other two pregnancies (10/8 years ago) as it's constant rather than random waves throughout the day.

I also get random strong urges for a particular thing and then once I've had that thing once it makes me feel sick again. Like a fish finger sandwich a couple of weeks ago, I was desperate for it, I had one and it was amazing, but now the thought of it turns my stomach.

Bah! Sorry for the rant!

On holiday in Mallorca last week, I desperately craved pasta with lots and lots of really tomato-y sauce. I dragged DH and DS round the local shops til we found said ingredients, cooked it, wolfed it down, loved it.
Fast forward a few days later once we'd got home. I made pasta and sauce for DS and made DH feed him as I couldn't stand the smell.

Pregnancy is weird.

Pregnancy is weird. How does something so small have such an effect on tastes and dislikes?

Currently holding on to the loo after cleaning the bathroom and the cleaning product making me want to puke.

Going to get some Twiglets as soon as able Grin ooooh, and cold, flat, fizzy water.
