Small baby so worried!

So on Tuesday I went for a growth scan I'm 30 weeks pregnant with high bp and on labetalol for it. Both high bp and labetalol can cause growth problems.

They said that my baby was the smallest she was allowed to be so be safe on the 10th percentile. I have to go back twice a week now to make sure everything is ok with me and in two weeks for another scan to make sure baby had grown

They have said that if she hasn't grown in two weeks they want to deliver her, which I'm so worried about. I'll be just over 32 weeks at this point. Has anyone else gone through this? What were the outcomes?

My situations not quite the same, but I thought I'd share anyway.

I had my waters leak with my second. It was picked up at my midwife appointment at 28 weeks my bump was small. So I had a scan which revealed low amniotic fluid and a small baby.

I was given steroids and a weekly doppler scan to check the flow through the cord.
They were convinced we would have her early at one point, but she was doing good in there even though she was small and fluids were low.

Eventually she picked up and had a big growth spurt and amniotic fluid levels went to normal.

She was born a week overdue at 7lbs 8oz-so much for the predicted 5lber they predicted.

It sounds like they are keeping a close eye on you, so that's reassuring. Have they offered you steroids?

They have been great. No not mentioned steroids yet I think they are waiting for the scan before they discuss anything. I did say, so will it be a big panic if she needs to be born at 32 weeks and the dr was very positive and said she will just need extra care for a while!
I had similar problems with my first with high bp but it never effected her growth but she was delivered at 37 weeks by emergency section. so fingers crossed she's just a small baby.

A close friend had her son a few weeks ago at 32 weeks after unsuccessfully delaying labour for a week or so. She had steroid injections and a few others I can't remember, think she said for brain development? Anyway, he was born with no issues, had hardly any tubes from day 2, was feeding well off mum by two weeks old and home a few days later. He is just teeeny. But perfect x

Maybe not the same but my baby is really small and I'm getting my second steroid injection today. I'm 33 weeks and they want to deliver at 36 weeks if not sooner. Good news was that the baby had a growth spurt this week although still teensy. I was really anxious yesterday as everything was moving so fast but even after having no sleep whatsoever (steroids) I am feeling more positive about it.

I went through similar with high bp and a small IUGR baby.

Have they done dopplers to check the blood flow through the placenta?

I was first admitted to hospital on bedrest at 30 weeks, given steroids then and they managed to keep ds in until 34 weeks by which time he had stopped growing and there was a problem with bloodflow. Apologies, was a long time ago and can't quite remember what. I had a cs that day, ds was under 3lb and whisked away to NICU for some extra oxygen (he came off cpap within the first day though). 3 days in NICU then spent 3 weeks in SCBU simply because he was underweight but got out before his due date which was brilliant

Easier said than done but try not to worry. They will keep a very good eye on you and baby and keep them in as long as they possibly can. It was a very upsetting time for me but said ds is now a strapping 9 yo with no problems whatsoever. His chest was a bit 'weak' for years but has got better as he got older and that may have nothing to do with the prem birth. If you can and they are talking about early delivery, ask them to show you around the NICU/SCBU first.

Actually the doppler it for the umbilical cord, there were scans of the placenta too. Memory is a bit fuzzy about it all now.

Not exactly same situation but with my first pregnancy I was told my baby's was big. Then two weeks pre delivery they did a u turn and told me he was tiny. They did scans and measurements and predicted 6lb 8. He was four days late and weighed 5lb 6.
Then second pregnancy was told they would keep an eye on the weight of the second baby to make sure growth was ok. They worried me again saying he was big. Then was born at three days early at 7lb.
I'm in my tried pregnancy now and having to have extra scans to keep an eye on their baby's weight and size but I tend to take them with a pinch of salt as they got it wrong. So basically what I'm saying is try not to worry. They are monitoring you and in my case both times got it wrong!

I have a baby over the 95th percentile so I don't know about small babies, quite the opposite BUT I was told I would deliver at 32 weeks because my waters were leaking & the doctor said the worse that would happen is he would be in scbu for a few weeks. Luckily I'm only now going into labour at 37 weeks but 32 weekers do great generally, they may just need a bit of help but from what my doctor said, you're past the dangerously dangerous stage (24-28 weeks). Hope everything goes well x

Thanks for everyone's messages good to hear that all babies are doing well. They did do a scan to check cord and pralcenta, which all came back well. Just hoping I can hold on to her to 34 weeks if not longer x
