Stomach Cramps & Back Pain...... advice please?

I'm in between 34 and 35 wks pregnant with No2. I've been getting period pain type cramps since last night. I wasn't overly concerned until this morning. I'm at work at the moment and the cramps are getting worse. The pains also seem to be low down in my back.

The baby is kicking like mad, so I'm not concerned in that respect, but could I be going into labour early???

I haven't noticed a regular pattern to the pains, but they are coming and going. I have had 4 or 5 UTI's this pregnancy and I'm wondering if it could be another one of those. I had an Antenatal appointment on Wednesday and nothing was detected in my urine sample to suggest an infection.
My concern with the UTI is that at 24 wks I ended up in the labour ward having what felt like contractions due to a UTI. I'm scared that at this late stage those tightenings could turn into labour!

Any advice??

Hi Soupy - The pains have calmed down alot, but are still there on and off. I have been peeing a LOT so I assume it is a UTI afterall. Hopefully I've nipped it in the bud though and I'll keep trying to flush out my system.

I finsih work today and I think the rest is what I really need.

Thanks for the advice....

Drink cranberry juice. Or is that for cystitis?

Toothache · 04/07/2004 16:37

It's the same thing apparently.... they just call it a UTI in pregnancy. I think cystitis is closer to the outlet where urine comes out.... hence why it burns when you pee.... a UTI can be anywhere in the urinary tract and kidneys... I think!

\this will be my 6th UTI in this pregnancy. I drink loads of water and fruit juice, but I just seem to be extra susceptable to them. I've got a big carton of White Cranberry and Grape in my fridge at home. MMMMMMMMMMMMM

Cystitus is basically a UTI, which stands for urinary tract infection. Cranberry juice should still work, as would bicarbinate of soda. A UTI is the same whether pregnant or not its just your doctor using medical jargon designed to confuse!!!
