Leaking fluid at 12 weeks, any experience?

I'm 12 weeks and have just been woken up by a gush of clear , slightly bloody fluid which definitely wasn't urine. This comes 48 hours after a similar experience with heavier bleeding. Scan on Friday showed all was fine. Has anyone see experienced this? I'm not sure what to think at the moment or how worried I should be. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Ring the hospital now and go in to be seen. Take care.

I hope you were seen. If it's not amniotic fluid then it's urine. I know you said it wasn't but if perhaps you had a uti then you could have inflammation and leaking. I hope that's the case x

I had this at 12 weeks with my first pregnancy. He's now 4.

Best of luck OP

I had this at 17 weeks last week. It happened a few times in one morning and after ringing, was told to go to A&E who did a few tests and sent me on to the AGU, who then did a swab and external scan. All very thorough. All was fine.

Thanks all, good to know it doesn't have to be the worst case. I'm getting another scan on Tuesday and crossing my fingers that we don't have another scare in the meantime. Thanks for all your kind words and support x

Did the fluid smell sweet? Mine smelled like pineapple, which was the clue that made my midwife send me to see a gynae (overseas, so different system).

Good luck, but do get yourself checked if you're the slightest bit concerned. It's worth it, and they won't mind!

Amniotic fluid smell quite distinctive, it smells like semen 😬 gross I know, but unmistakable!

I had confirmed pprom at 18 weeks. It didn't smell like anything! I knew it wasn't urine because I'd just been and also I couldn't control the gush feeling. Please if in doubt get checked out.

I totally agree that you should get checked out. Just to share my experience, I had a lot of what felt like gushing, very wet pants (sorry tmi) and it was just increased discharge. I had to wear pant liners my whole pregnancies.
