Hi, im just wondering what to expect with my waters breaking? Obviously I know a lot of water will come out but I was just wondering if there's a build up or any signs before it happens?
This is my second baby but my waters didn't break on my first, the hospital had to break them and it was only a tiny trickle so I'm abit apprehensive as what to expect.
I'm 39+4 so expecting a gush sometime soon 😊 thanks x

Mine started in small gushes, everyone I got up, then at the hospital when I was walking up to the birthing unit I just felt like they were about to go, I can't explain it, I was trying to keep my legs together lol, when I got on the unit I had a big contraction and they went... Everywhere! I couldn't believe how much there was, soaked the bed and hit the floor Blush

Mine went preterm while I was asleep. I stood up and there was a bit of a gush then it trickled continuously until DD was born. Labour started 12 hours after they broke and DD arrived 4 hours after that.

dd1 - one hour into labour, one hour before baby born. A sudden and unexpected flood!

Dd2 - induced because of low waters, she was born in them! They were broken by midwife after she was born!

In hospital on the induction suite in labour. I felt a pop then there was a trickle and as I stood up it started gushing. Pain ramped up considerably as soon as they'd gone. Went from 1-10cms in the next hour

In hospital, while I was about to be transferred for failure to progress. Been having contractions for 24 hours 3 minutes apart from the first one to the last. By that point I'd have given my right arm for an epidural as I was utterly exhausted.

Nearly took out two paramedics and a midwife the force with which they went, and then it kept coming! Baby born by EMCS 6 hours later as I still didn't dilate past 6 cm. Little bugger was back to back and at a funny angle.

If I'd have been more compos mentis I'd have been impressed, Dh said it was like a mop bucket had been emptied all over the shop. (I'd had two sweeps and multiple internals by that point.)
