My dogs have been following me around more than ever and like to have cuddles more than usual.Smile

I also have chickens and one has decided she doesn't like me much since I've become pg which could be a coincidence of course but she tries to square up to me (which is hilarious because she is a small bantam pekin!!Grin) silly thing. Hope she gets over it soon!!

Have anyone else's pets been a bit different since you found out you're expecting? Does it last your whole pregnancy?

YY to being followed around by the dog. She's also been sniffing my bum and breasts like crazy and trying to get into my lap at every possible opportunity. I must smell lovely?

Our dog went weird with me both times I was pregnant. She knew before I did I think, in fact it was her behaviour that made me do a test with DS2. She wouldn't leave my side, whereas she's usually very laid back.

My female dog isn't bothered at all but my male dog is my shadow! He's asleep on my legs now as I type this. If I go in the shower he sits staring at me through the glass! If I go to the toilet he comes into the bathroom. It's cute I suppose lol

No but my dogs are quite stupid. (Not being cruel, thats why I love them Grin)

Scaredycat2016 · 13/12/2016 11:00

One of my horses went incredibly strange and stand offish... Before I even knew that I was. She's normally really clingy but she literally wouldn't come near me. Another one has had a complete personality overhaul and has taken to behaving like an idiot to his field companion if I'm in the field. X

Yes my dog has! He follows me everywhere, escorts me to the toilet, waits outside for me to go and the walks me back down the stairs!

He's also become a bit more protective, so if he can hear people outside our flat he runs at the door or jumps onto my lap in a protective stance. Also when we're out for walks and he sees something he deems dangerous then he runs back to me and walks inbetween me and whatever is causing him concern!

My old dog used to always cuddle up to DP when we sat on the sofa but when I was pregnant he "changed sides" and cuddled up to me instead. He went back when DD was born!

Love reading these stories! It's odd because my dogs became clingy before I even knew I was pregnant! One dog has been quite naughty when I take her to training this last week or so... I wonder if she feels protective of me, and the dynamics of being in a group of people and dogs for training, perhaps makes her worried she can't protect me? Perhaps I'm overthinking it but she is definitely more naughty now!

My male dog usually jumps at me when he is exited, pretty much from the day I conceived his behaviour had changed. He hasn't jumped at me throughout the whole pregnancy, but jumps at my MIL and DH. He has been much more sedate around me! He's a snuggle bum anyway so can't say if that has changed!

LadyFanjo · 13/12/2016 16:08

My dogs were extra gentle and very protective. The husky stopped pulling on the lead and wouldn't leave me alone. My cat had to be near me all the time and took every opportunity to snuggle my bump. Even my mum's poodles were super affectionate, with the usually grumpy one deciding he was my guard dog.
Soon as I had DD2, they all stopped being so interested and went back to normal Smile

topaz22 · 13/12/2016 16:08

my cat started acting strange before i even found out. crying to get in the same room as me and curling up on my belly. so cute Smile

NewMum26 · 13/12/2016 21:13

Yes totally! My cat has been so cuddly since I became pregnant she's normally quite independent and not one to come up into the bed for a cuddle but every night without fail she comes up off her own accord and snuggles right into my side with her head on my arm Grin She doesn't snuggle into OH and he is laid next to me so we deffo think she knows I'm pregnant or can sense something different I believe animals know for sure

FlaminFlamingo99 · 13/12/2016 21:18

My youngest dog won't stop sniffing my boobs this evening... Hmm very weird!!!

My cat will come and lie on my stomach whenever I'm sat down. Used to completely ignore me.

halfbuffy · 13/12/2016 21:48

Oh I thought of another one (just because it just happened)...the dog could be doing anything - sleeping, playing, eating...but if there's background music on the tv which sounds sort of tense or that something is about to happen, he will look at the front door like he's anticipating someone to burst through and he will have to protect me!

MoonlightMojitos · 13/12/2016 22:00

Mines not any different! However, when I went to my aunts recently both hers were acting very odd (I see them quite often) and one of them, a lab x, wouldn't leave me alone when he's usually not bothered!

CatRash · 13/12/2016 22:02

My cat knew before I did. He's clingy anyway but he went super clingy and took to lying on my stomach a lot.

I went round a friend's at the weekend and she kept saying how her dog isn't usually so obsessed with visitors as she was with me as she kept trying to sit on my lap. When I told her I was pregnant it all made sense.

Animals are very clever beings!!!

McBaby · 14/12/2016 00:57

My cat has known every time and won't leave me or my tummy alone. When I had a miscarriage in the summer he wouldn't come near me and would barlely come in the house, but late august he wanted to sit on my tummy constantly I got a positive test a few days later.

thecatsarecrazy · 14/12/2016 07:13

My cat who normally lives upstairs has been spending more time with me, siting next to me on the sofa.
